What Cuomo is saying isn't that he sent people to nursing homes after testing positive, he said the tests weren't there so he they were not known to be infected, and old people in declining health are generally placed in care homes. What do you do with elderly people who are in declining health if they are not able to be helped by a hospital?

We've been doing it for years, nursing homes are where old people go to die, it's just a fact of modern life. But I WISH people would go back to the way things were, and honor the elders. That's why our society is falling apart, we do not pass wisdom from generation to generation any more. Often in my experience the eldest in a crowd is often the most informed and wise.

SO here's your thought problem:

you have ten thousand old people who have not been tested and might be infected, and are not in serious condition , and no hospital space to treat them. What do you do, tell them to go home and die? Many did just that. ANd some went to old folks homes.

I don't think any of us can properly grasp the scope of the logistics involved. You can't just tell sick old people to go die at home unless thats what they choose to do. In my opinion with the infection level that high the spread to old folks homes was inevitable.

Even if this alleged CDC directive had actually said that, any public official who cared would have resisted it, loudly.

We knew back in January that the elderly were especially vulnerable.

Just when I am getting close to needing to live in a nursing home,, the shit hits the fan ,,
I am 71 years old now and could be that in the next ten years or so,,I might need to live in one..
I guess that if I am lucky,,,I will die so I don't have to suffer being killed by a stranger,,one way or another.
I hope it will be a quick death and I don't suffer for days or weeks like I see the people in hospice do..

The problem with government is once it sets up a rule or standard you should follow it. If you don’t then you open yourself up to liability.
