Anonymous Coward User ID: 78971189 United States 02/03/2021 08:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I didn't pick my cats for looks either. I took my time to find the best one. This Orange tabby was begging for attention rubbing on his kennel trying to see anyone that came in. He was first to greet me so I took him home. Saturday I went in to get a kitten but I ended up leaving with a black older kitten because she actually hugged me and grabbed my face and licked me. So I took her. It's actually a rewarding experience it will really help you move on. |

I live on a farm, so there’s no shortage of animals here, but this cat... he was my soul animal. I’m sure of it. Anyway, I miss him. Quoting: Paradox927 I’m so sorry. They are all individuals. One day you will be adopted by another soul animal when you are ready. |
Paradox927 (OP) User ID: 76908831 United States 02/03/2021 08:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Feel for you OP, my girl is on the way out, just had a month of holding her up as she had a major ear infection, up and down daily atm with elderly issues. Quoting: The Crystal Dimension But she is a fighter, still plays and enjoys the sun/garden. The vet can get lost... trying to write her off,no heart some vets. When she goes... Pretty sure that's the straw that snaps the camels back for me, lost all faith in humanity, my cat gives so much without uttering a word. Cat folk are the best. Oh, man. I’m sorry to read that about your cat. It’s not easy taking care of an elderly animal. I had a JRT a few years back. He was about 17 or so when he finally died. Cancer and age took him (and one of his legs). It’s not easy letting go, but don’t give up on humanity—even though there are a lot of obnoxious people running amuck. |

Awwww. She said tag you are it. So sweet. |

Paradox927 (OP) User ID: 76908831 United States 02/03/2021 08:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | sorry to hear. I am dealing with a sick 17 year old cat. All vets either are booked for over a month and a half in my area or want to charge a huge emergency surcharge. They don't even let you in with your animal. Quoting: panther0621 All my boy needs is a antibiotic shot. He might have cancer or the lump on his throat is his glands reacting to this. he has had this URI thing since he was a kitten, had it when we got him. took a few weeks for him to stablize, told it would flare throughout his life. I found on amazon the homeo drops for cats for congestion. even has some silver in it plus a ton of stuff that i have had seen on here even for their anit viral and anti bacteria and fungal properties. he is on day 3 of that and seems better. bought a tube of weight gain paste as well since he was not eating much. it has about twice the calories he needs a day and i put it on his paw and his licks it off. it also is loaded with vitimins. I know none of this brings your buddy back OP, but may help others. I know how special they all are. I am really sorry for your loss OP Oh, damn. That’s awful. That weight gain paste is the best, though. It saved my other cat’s life. He was hooked up to an I.V. in the living room for weeks. That was a few years ago, and he’s doing great now. He was younger than 17, but I’ve heard of cats who live to twenty or older, so don’t give up hope! |

WatchingEddyMin User ID: 79277497 Ireland 02/03/2021 08:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But others are desperatley waiting for you in your local animal shelter! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70327565 Adopting another is NOT replacing your beloved companion. Take a trip to the shelter, see how you feel. Fostering a cat (or dog, or other animal) may be a way you can help save an animal that may otherwise get put down, and give you some company as well. There are animals out there that need help, & you can save a life. I miss my cat terribly, she died a few years ago in terrible circumstances & I don't think I'll ever not think about her & cry. I couldn't even go near the rescue cats at Petsmart for a long time without breaking down, or even pet a cat that approached me. You'll always love & miss your cat, but the pain will lessen over time. "Doom! Doom! Doom! I have one of those grey jobs, she is a genius as well as being affectionate and involved in our lives, she's silent unless really threatened, which is a trait of the French Chartreuse. Rescue from a vacant car park. Must have had enough mothering to be mentally ok and adorable enough to be saved by someone, brought to SPCA. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 22429218 United States 02/03/2021 09:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How's this? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79018655 I'm in favor of abortion so you could say I'm not pro-life? But I refused to kill my beloved calico cat, have her "put down" even on the vet's recommendation, so I had to watch her slowly die in front of me. It was terrible, worse than I thought possible, but I wanted to give her every minute of life possible. I'll never forget her and wish I could have done better for my companion. I held my 20 year old calico in my arms when she died and felt her essence enter me. Days before, I would lay a blanket in the sun and me and my dogs would surround her, like a family would, offering her fresh clean cool water, and tiny bites of tuna or chicken. She mostly slept but would wake up and meow. Our presence comforted her. The dogs understood what we were doing, saying goodbye to Sweetie. I bought her for $2.00 from a drunk on the corner who took her out of the litter at his mom’s house to sell for a beer. She was the best cat I ever had. |

First dog when I was 24. I’ve lost 4 animals now and have 6 living with me. All rescues. It never ceases to amaze me that all of them but one were unwanted and one was given back to a shelter. That kinda counts as unwanted. Latest is a black kitten found on a major street crying. She is awesome! Can’t believe how lucky I am. Either that or cats and dogs just straight up rock.
