Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77906239 Down Rt 3 in Kilmarnock, at the bottom of the Northern Neck. Stations here in this little town of 3000 or so are getting run on, and doubt there will be any gas tomorrow. Hunted geese, deer and squirrel in Kilmarnock many moons ago. Caught some huge doormats fishing Wachapreague back in the day. Fun stuff. Most people in Richmond only an hour and a half away have no idea we exist. I am probably the only one in town who visits GLP. Stores here are nazi about the mask, and I'm sure there will be no gas; the stations have police at them, I suppose to "keep order," though even though there are lines, it's a quiet run on gas. Hey, at least the grocery store is within easy walking distance! I hear you. Lived in Norfolk working at the Navy Base. Hunted and fished the Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore and all along the James and York Rivers. Got tired of the cold and snow so moved to the desert here in West Texas. Big culture shock but after 20 years finally getting used to living in the sticks away from the ocean. Grocery store 120 mile round trip. Hot as hell here but winters are mostly mild and short. Haven't shoveled snow once since we moved here. Lots of family still in Norfolk, Va Beach, and Goshen up in the Blue Ridge. Not much law around these parts. One sheriff and a few deputies to cover over 6000 sq miles. They couldn't guard the gas stations if they tried. Not really a problem though since most people that stay around here know how to act. Stay safe. I finally decided to chime in on this. I too know the Northern Neck, Gloucester, Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas; pretty much the entire Chesapeake Bay, down through the Outer Banks. I even have a glass block from the old ice cream stand when Buckroe Beach was open to the public, not mostly private beachfront homes, and had an amusement park. The good people are there, here, all around, regardless of skin color. It is those that do not know how to be decent humans that are fighting at the pumps. When our power is out for ten days behind a hurricane I have hundreds of feet of double-female hoses so they can have water in their homes via an outside tap fed by my well pump. Electricity isn't a problem, They may hook up to my generator too. <--This isn't some snow flaking, virtue signaling, man-bun wearing, biological entity that contains no soul. It is how people are supposed to treat each other and their neighbors. Those of us in the country haven't forgotten it, unlike those in the cities that were never exposed to it by ignorant, non-parenting parents. And those same 'people' [that's a bit of a reach] are the same ones getting the population serialization and reduction 'vax' they think is a vaccine because they believe in the lying neon god their TV and social media presents them. It's crude oil in the pipeline that takes a while to refine, so where is all the refined gas that's already refined? And I thought this was just north east coast, and it's affecting 17 states already, so makes no sense whatsoever. . Outside of Seymour IN, there is a fueling station hub which stores and pumps nearly all types of fuel, crude and natural gas from TX to Chicago, NY and MD. It is the backbone of fuel transport for IN, Il, OH, PA, NY, KY, TN and the major airports. It is shut down. There are also several in GA, NC, SC, OH, WV, AND PA that are also shut down. These are owned by different companies but all share the same pipeline which is owned by ....... Shell, Haliburton, Exxon, Columbia, etc. When one supplier is disrupted, the domino effect happens. Somewhere upstream from these facilities no one is pumping the supply line. There are more that I'm not familiar with but those listed, I physically worked at. Key takeaways here, where is all the stored gas right now? Shouldn't be running out yet just because oil isn't flowing. And my guess is the "somewhere upstream" disrupters are part of the N W O climate change agenda agents. I agree with ya on that. The facilities I mentioned are also hub storage. Major facilities with millions and millions gal fuel storage. Just a handful of the facilities that I have worked in, had enough storage to last their region's months in order to not disrupt the supply line. Now, just a few days into a "crisis" and the fuel is gone? BS! There has to be more than what we are being told here. Or it's another manufactured crisis. Either way, what I do know is that a few of these facilities are idle .... fron the ppl who work there have stated to me. |

GSB/LTD User ID: 8080014 United States 05/11/2021 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | UMMM, it was 1969 when I filled up the tank on my first car -a '66 Mustang- and it cost me 33.9/gal. And that's cents, not dollars. Motor oil was .25 per quart. I personally remember gasoline as low as 29.9/gal and it was all "leaded". Ethyl [as premium was called] would usually be about 3 cents more than regular. Filling stations [as everybody called them] regularly had "gas wars" where they'd see who could suck in the most cars, sometimes dropping the price by 15-20 cents per gallon. And when low prices weren't enough to compete, they offered freebies with every fill up like souvenir glasses, dishes and even towels. I especially remember that Sinclair stations offered 24" green inflatable dinosaurs that matched their logo so kids would badger their parents to buy gas there! And grocery stores did the SAME thing by offering pots/pans, towels and encyclopedias - you got the first volume Free or maybe for a dime and the rest cost you $1.99 or so. Even banks got into the act and offered kitchen appliances and electric blankets when you opened a new account. BTW: that used 'stang -in great condition- only cost me $600 at a local dealer. Eat your heart out for missing out on the good old days! Oh wow, GSB/LTD! Big flashback while reading your comment. Me howling like a banshee w/ a whole damn sheet of S&H Green Stamps stuck on my tongue. And it tasted like ass, which is why I was howling. My mama thought I was being murdered in back seat of our station wagon at gas station. And that was the last time she gave me the book of stamps w/out supervising me. And I miss seeing Ponies on the open road. That's what the youngins call Mustangs these days. I'm a muscle car closet gear head gal, myself. Thanks for your kind comment. I also remember my kid sister looking at a gas pump and then asking me if gas stations were all owned by "that woman on the Lucy show?" I lied and said, "Yes, and she's a very rich woman!" |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80192051 United States 05/11/2021 09:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | KY update. From Bowling Green to Owensboro is nearly out of fuel. Every town in between these 2 cities are nearly empty. Quoting: Roadkill Bill From Madisonville to Elizabethtown and Louisville are the same. Haven't heard about Paducah area yet. Looks like the Eastern part of the state is also being hit hard. 1 to 2 days and KY will be out of fuel. And we have a refinery in Ashland!!!! Wtf??? Man, this whole thing seems bogus. It's crude oil in the pipeline that takes a while to refine, so where is all the refined gas that's already refined? And I thought this was just north east coast, and it's affecting 17 states already, so makes no sense whatsoever. No. I looked into it but this one does transported refined petroleum, including gasoline and jet fuel. Thank you. I love when folks fact check me on things like this. I'm starting a fact and want ppl to know that there is something else at play here. For Seymour to stop pumping fuel is freaking huge! I did 2 major projects on that particular station. One was a new dual 30" pipeline directly from Tx then over to OH, to be used as the main supply of gas, diesel and jet fuel for o'hare and the eastern part of the midwest States. These lines replaced the older 20 inch trunk lines and isolated the fuel storage and jockey stations from crude. The other project was isolating the crude and nat gas pumping, storage and relay stations. They did this because shooting pigs from tx and ak created too much of a disruption in the supply lines. Before, they would pump one type of fuel, oil or gas, then purge those lines afterwards. Shoot a pig thru the system to clean it, then run another type of fuel, crude or gas. Then repeat, etc. |

Winks, KFC and the old lighthouse restaurant were all there was. Dry as a bone there except for the old coast guard station were you could buy 3.2 beer if you had a military or dependent ID. Camped at the Buxton camp ground complete with outdoor showers and outhouses. This was when the lighthouse was open and before they moved it. You could climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse. What a view. Those were the days! |
