WHY Spain keeps those two enclaves on the North Shore of Africa (with Morocco on three sides and the Med on the forth) is beyond me.

One you cross the barb wire into either one of Spain's African outposts on the Med you are LEGALLY IN SPAIN ... even though you are still physically in Africa!! Sheesh, the stupidity of Spain for keeping those enclaves is beyond me.

All you have to do once you are on the Spanish side of the barb wire, they can't throw you out under EU regs, is to literally walk through town and walk up to the ferry, pay your money, and voila you are deposited across the Med and are LEGALLY in Malaga Spain before you know it (ferry runs daily).

It is easier to cross the barb wire, or swim in, and get into the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla in Africa than to risk crossing the stormy Med, and cheaper too!!

For about 3 decades now Morocco has offered to pay to have a RR tunnel drilled under the Straits of Gibraltar to connect Africa to Spain, ie: Europe (ala the Chunnel under the English Channel) but Spain has declined the offer. If you thought the issue of illegal immigrants trying to sneak into Great Britain via the Chunnel is bad can you imagine what a direct tunnel from Africa right into Europe would be like.

Whose to say someone hasn't already mined most of that tunnel link?

Israelis have plenty of experience with stealthy uninvited tunnel rats.
