I Live alone and have no friends - Thanksgiving Style | |

Quoting: Gypo O'Leary For example, I don't think I've said anything to another person since Saturday morning. Anyway...I'm thinking of buying a turkey, cooking it, just for myself. On Wednesday, I would make a cheesecake from scratch for myself. Then on Thursday, I will -Julienne some green beans, and make a mushroom gbean casserole. -make some dinner rolls from those pull apart cardboard things -Mike Evans mashed potatoes that I can microwave -stuff and dress a smaller 5-7lbs Turkey and cook it in an electric roaster. I bought a 12 dollar bottle of Hungarian white wine that I will drink. I will watch football games alone. I don't have much to give thanks for...but I believe in maintaining my dignity as I go to the grave. You should go have dinner at the Salvation Army. You will meet all kinds of interesting people and have a good dinner. You might even make a friend. |

It does not mean I don’t enjoy the holidays by myself. I always go a little above and beyond to treat my self to a multi course mini feast. Have leftovers for a few days. Life is a Good, especially this time of year. Sitting around the wood stove and pigging out. Dark Winter my Ass. I’ve got enough firewood to burn 24/7 for 6 months. Happy Stuffed HolyDaze. Stay Frosty and Warm All. |

I had a rat terrier though, he was where I was, ate what I ate, slept when I slept. He was a good friend to me. Now I have a family so I’m basically maid and chef for the next 3 days. I’ll get no free time, but I had kids so I signed up for it. Make the best of what you’ve got, peace and quiet are underrated when you live alone, enjoy it. Cheers! |

That's plenty for me. No biggy. I will take leftover turkey and some homemade rolls to some friends who love leftovers, but are going to their daughter's. You might be home alone, but you have a home. You have your health. You have your mind. You have enough money to buy a turkey (so I am assuming you have a job). You have plenty to be thankful for. Heck, if you need friends, you can find plenty of people to talk to here. |

There are a lot of people spending Thanksgiving alone. I am one of them. I turned down all the invites because I didn't want to travel. I have to travel next week for several days and needed to get some work done around the house since I have a short vacation. My only family is my sister, who's 6yrs younger than me (and I moved out of the house when I was 14-so she was 8yrs when we last lived together, ie: we're not very close as far as a relationship) and now lives across the country from me. My 2 kids are grown and ALSO live across the country from me. I moved to where I now live, 6yrs ago and I still don't have a car, but I DO have MS! Lol, smh, sigh. Not in a wheelchair YET, but can't walk farther than my kitchen without tripping (Drop Foot. My right foot BARELY lifts up to take a step, if I'm lucky), so I only go out once a month to pick up my scripts and back home it is! Lol, I do have a cat that keeps me alive and smiling. Thankful for the "small things", ALWAYS. My motto is "Rich/poor, healthy/sick-NO ONE is guaranteed a tomorrow. Each night when you go to bed, make sure you made your day the BEST day that you could, because there are NO promises that there will be another!". And smile. Laughter is KEY to keeping your shit together ;). |

Amazing what some beautiful flowers can do to add a bit of cheer. Quoting: keepitopen Reminders of what is simple, beautiful and pure. How incredible Creation is. The little things that often go unnoticed. Allow yourself to truly enjoy them. I'll just put the Flower Arrangement channel on Pluto TV and look at it for a while. Lmfao- this made me chuckle.
