I always rinse the slime off of chicken in the sink, I don't see why you can't rinse off a turkey in the sink.

Why cook the chicken with the slime left on it?

==========

Plus I can rinse off chicken without splashing it all over the kitchen.

And the conspiracy that you're gonna spread it all over your kitchen. I can use tap water so it doesn't spray all over the kitchn. So it seems like a fake conspiracy for rinsing poultry to spread germs all over your kitchen.

I actually put it into a huge bin with apple cider vinegar and water. Its the food safe one I rinse my harvested chickens in. The turkey was from a friend, and they don't do the same system I do so the turkey had feather that smelled dirty still in in some spots.

It's a 36lb bird so I split it into 1 big half the bird for thanksgiving, and then 5 other meals with the breast in 2 pieces, then the leg, then thigh, then wing. Each is pretty much big enough for a whole meal.

No. Having ham. I did however invite my neighbor who's father died last week from covid. Their other family doesn't want them there because they were around a covid person.

Re: POLL: DID YOU WASH YOUR THANKSGIVING TURKEY IN THE SINK and SPREAD COVID ALL OVER YOUR KITCHEN?
while we are on the subject of fowl... you might want to be aware of the fact that the only difference between "free range" (mass produced) poultry/eggs and other products, is that the ones they call "free range" are allowed to run freely in a "Poultry house" where they come in direct contact with a thousand or more (not all healthy) foul fowls - that are all fed arsenic to make them mature faster and grow fatter .... once their (forced) egg production slows down, they are processed - but more often than not, the processors show up before the growers have time to stop giving them the arsenic and off to the plant they go - if it doesn't say "free range" it means they spent their entire life in a cage.

luckily the arsenic doesn't show up in the eggs but if you want to be sure your meat and eggs are safe to eat ... find out where and how they are grown and processed - you can almost always find "farm fresh/ free range" (grass fed) produce in your local craig's listings - the ten minute drive to a local meat market is well worth your time and effort - to insure that you are getting what you pay extra for in the store ... often you can take a look at your meat while it is still alive and pick out which ones you want ... you can ask what it was fed and be given an honest answer

Re: POLL: DID YOU WASH YOUR THANKSGIVING TURKEY IN THE SINK and SPREAD COVID ALL OVER YOUR KITCHEN?
Well...There goes my Thanksfibbing Day meal!

I DID read this week that an estimated 42 MILLION
turkeys will be eaten for Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.A.
So...odds are that it's 1 in 42,000,000 chances that
YOUR TURKEY will be the one with a "COVID SMEAR" ON IT!
(Even Las Vegas would NOT take those odds!)

I'm making turkey for everyone who DOES NOT BELIEVE
some terrorists have injected the turkeys with the
Pfizer vaccine...and I'm having a salmon fillet.
That way...if one of us dies someone can take care
of the chihuahuas.

I think that was a smart idea...right?

See what you did?...YOU SCARED THE KITTY!

EskimozKitty
"Would they really DO THAT to our turkey, ma?"

I hear you.

But the simple fact is extreme Heat during cooking kills all bacteria.

Nothing survives when done properly.

Plus where do you draw the line ?

Might as well wash Mince Meat the lot.

Unless you are washing out side under a garden Hose. The bacteria from the poultry that would get killed just by cooking, gets spread all over your Kitchen from water droplets
during washing,contaminating work surfaces.

You might get the desired reduction in Bacteria covering the Bird.

But turn your Kitchen in to a bug paradise.

Accident cross contamination spreading bacteria kills more people.
