Arizona Is Having A Huge Drought - Hope You Dummies Who Decided To Live In the Desert Have A Backup Plan

i don't understand purposely living in a place like that

Anyone living west of Colorado will see a major drought for the next 50-80 years. It should start soon with this cycle, similar to the "dust bowl" but widespread and long duration 50+ years. It's going to get ugly out there.

It's a desert duhhh... What ? :" We only got a half inch of rain this year instead of 3/4 !" ? annnd it's hot !!.

I thought the same thing until I moved there but Phoenix is awesome. The desert is beautiful and the weather is awesome 8 months out of the year. I mean REALLY awesome. 70's - 80's every day, low humidity & sunny every day. The heat in summer is no worse (actually easier) to deal with than winter in the midwest/NE. But of course you will still disagree with me & write it off....just like I used to when people would tell me all that before I moved there.

Even if everything you say is true.

I was raised in Phoenix Arizona, and yeah, it was nice.. once upon a time.. then all the damn cali refugees sold their houses for 4 mil, came here and bought up everything pumped the prices until the native born were priced out..

now its junkies and cops, just like cali.. the summers get hotter as more of the once green yards get converted to gravel to cope with water prices..

They said the same thing when I lived there. All they talked about was how AZ was running out of water & we were gonna have to start rationing, etc. But millions of people are still living there, watering their lawns, filling their pools, watering golf courses, etc.

California Agriculture is sucking it dry due to dated policies.
NV and AZ conserves more water than it’s allotted usage. Especially NV where there’s a ton of water recycling and water conservation in motion for decades now. I believe NV is the #1 in the US for water conservation.

The desert weather is awesome and predictable where you can be outdoors year round. Parks are open to midnight and well lit to workout during the summer nights. Living is cheaper. The 120 degree days are way better than shoveling hundreds of pounds of snow. Heat in general is better for blood circulation, joints, and muscles. The sunsets are beautiful.

Although super expensive desalination plants for CA, OR, and WA with pipelines running to AZ, NV, UT, & ID will help ease historic droughts. Especially with rising sea levels.

Entrepreneurs such as Marc Lore and Elon Musk are looking in the desert to build sustainable cities. The backup plan is sustainability. The desert has the capability and land available to harness the Sun’s energy through solar. That can be exchanged for water from elsewhere.

Water is being trucked in because all the wells are dry, golf courses are selling out to developers because they can't afford the price of water...

And Bill Gates has an investment property right next to Phoenix that will house 50,00 people.

Where are they going to get the water supply for that?

Levels have been dropping but I gotta say...at least AZ is not purposefully draining resevoirs into the Ocean like they are doing in California to save some rare fish.
