Letter to VA patient advocate
This is a letter I just sent out electronically to the patient advocate at the VA. I am posting it here to shed light on what veterans go through and it is part of linked thread at the bottom of this post. I have been using GLP to document my journey, so all can bear witness. Now, here is the letter:

Hello,

I have been attempting to get help through my Veterans Service Officer which is the DAV via email, and although I was initially acknowledged, I have since been put on ignore. This is an issue that also happened in 2011 and I attempted to fire them.

However, when I went to their office which is directly next to the American Legion and other "brands", I was denied firing them, as the same clerks work for them all (There is no distinction).

I have been trying to get help since I left the Marine Corps in 2006. My request has been met with homelessness, sickness, and poverty.

For these reasons, I hope this nation burns to ashes and I support anyone who works to that end.

Is there any reason you can provide for me to feel otherwise?

I am only one of many.

And the thread this is part of:

Thread: Thank you for your service but

I don't mind being last in line, but why are their so many waiting before me?

Listen, he can do nothing. He is part of the VA; they are their own organizations. weird that he would be hired as a VSO for 3 plus the county.

go to a VFW and ask who to go to. call the local director and complain.

you can file your own claim online. it is not hard to submit, hard to get your benefits. just file a complaint of every medical issue that you have been diagnosed with. have the paperwork from the private doc uploaded to the VA during the process. if you have been with the VA for your care, you are good.

you have been out a long time leatherneck. I as well. make sure if you dont have medical from time in the Corps.. get at least 3 buddy statements and current condition documented.

if you still need help go to the VFW and they will point you in the right direction for the good VSO. if you get denied either fight it yourself or a lawyer at that point can help you. the key is adding more to the medical file and having everything wrong documented in some form and how it relates to an injury in the Corps. i will watch thread if you have questions - Semper Fi

I use to work for the VA and I can honestly say the main issues with the VA is the patients are running the asylum. They hire a lot of disabled veterans and they are very hard to fire. This is a big problem because they screw up and do bad stuff and they keep their jobs.

It all boils down to getting medical records.

My request has been pending for over a year due to the camp lejeune lawsuits.

Add to that doctors who refuse to give a diagnosis two years after examining you because they haven't quite figured it out (even though I told them directly), well I am not a beggar, neither am I Jesus.

I am for burning the fucker down.

And so I shall, one piece at a time.

That was the first thing the VSO I called asked, was did I jump through the narrow hoops of the PACT act.

Nevermind what I personally got going on.

You can have your meds mailed and reorder online through myvet.

In my experience, the meds are easy to get.

I am up to seven already, two of which are benadryl taken to control the hives from the other 5.

Who knows how many I will be on by the time they reach a diagnosis.

I GOT OUT IN '84- AIRBORNE INFANTRYMAN- AND HAVE HAD LOSS OF HEARING AND SEVERE TINTINNITUS EVER SINCE. I FINALLY WENT TO THE VA LAST MONTH TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO AND GOT A HEARING AID AND A WHITE NOISE MACHINE FOR FREE.

I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT MUCH TO BE HONEST. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL AND HELPFUL. I STILL AVOID DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS LIKE THE PLAGUE, BUT NOW AT LEAST I KNOW I CAN GO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS.

Re: Letter to VA patient advocate
Remember what I said about medical records?

I am a participant in the class action against 3M for providing defective ear plugs knowingly.

Of the $6,000,000,000.00 settlement I will receive around $6000.00.

Of the $6,000,000,000.00 award, half goes to the attorneys and courts.

But my point is, not even the attorneys who represented me in that case could get my medical records.

The VA has the power to limit how much you can pay attorneys for representation against them.

For our protection of course.

That and many other hurdles have scared attorneys out of representing vets.
