Later on, when these soldiers were swimming around in sewage and rotting flesh, trying to get their rifles sighted in, they probably weren't so amused.

Those might be the most obviously faked photos I've ever seen. Every scene is posed even in situations where it would be impossible. Look at them and really see whats trying to be portrayed.

from one of the captions...

"Due to the film's lack of sensitivity, every shot would be posed for long periods of time."

Re: Colour photographs from the German front line during World War One
my German grandfather fought in WW1 and lived with a bullet imbedded in his skull..(they lacked expertise then to extract). However, he went on to become the Chief Architect of Berlin during WW2, and the Nazis forced him to join the party.

When he didnt comply they shipped him off to a Russian camp.

( He got "captured" )

Upon release he reunited with family. He complied due to the war although he hated the Nazis. My mom fled Berlin with a suitcase at age 17.

Im the result of her and my AF dad.(American)

Ummm...read the captions, that's no secret. The photos WERE posed for very long periods. That was the way it was done, and that's why the photos have an "unnatural feel" to them.

Still cool.

War sucks man and the fools of today and yesterday that run our affairs don't realize how badly the gene pool is infected

Where did most of our creativity in the Arts and ingenuity in Inventing go after that first war?

Most of our inventions that were made by then did not continue on in a grand scheme . The Arts were never paralleled in Architect and Writings
