It was definitely laid out really well and compiled nicely, but the videos were garbage. The pictures of the UFO, which are nothing more than the oldest blur motion trick photography has to offer plus some photoshopping, makes me want to slap some sense into people. Just because we want to believe in aliens and ufos and come up with wacky ideas and concepts about how things work if they did actually happen, doesn't mean it's real. I believe there is life out there but I can't buy most of that. |

I stepped out to look for this bright thing this thread talks about. If I draw a line through orions belt and travel south east the distance between my middle finger and thumb spread out and my arm stretched out, there is a very beautiful sparkly object. I looked at it with binoculars it has many colors. It is very beautiful. Is this what people are seeing? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 592564If you're sure it is NOT Sirius then it may probably be it. Can you give us any more details? |

Quoting: thewonWe are seeing the same thing in the Western sky here in North Carolina. It has gotten brighter and brighter EVERY NIGHT (tonight it was so bright it even had a halo around it!) My husband (a fellow glper) was skeptical and said it had to be Venus because every amateur with a telescope would be screaming about this if it was something new. However, over time, as we have watched this grow brighter, he has conceded that if it were Venus, its orbit would have relocated it by now but this thing is in the EXACT SAME LOCATION FOR OVER A MONTH! Oh and did I mention...IT'S GETTING BRIGHTER! |

It shines at a stunning -4 magnitude. The only natural objects in the night sky that are brighter than Venus are the Sun and the Moon (Satellites can briefly flare brighter than Venus). During the winter we can see three stationary red and blue twinkly things, one in the northeast, one in the northwest and one in the southeast, all quite close to the horizon. There seems to be an interactive aspect to whatever they are as i am positive they know when being observed. |

unhappycarrot User ID: 1071879 United States 08/18/2010 03:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | SEATTLE AREA: So roughly between 8:30pm and 9:15pm Pacific Time, the sun was setting, but the sky was still bright blue. To the southwest I could see the moon. Sitting in a chair facing south I tilted my head back to look at the sky. I saw a noticeably bright white star, I though at first it must be a plane... so I watched it for a few and then it suddenly moved very very swiftly in the north direction and stopped very abruptly. My second thought was a meteor, after all we did just have a meteor shower this past weekend, but the very bright "star" never disappeared or burned out like a shooting star would have and it stayed in the same spot and just as bright until I mentioned it to friends who were also present at the time. They shrugged it off and said "satelite" I quickly dismissed this option because of how quickly it moved and stopped. I didn't notice if it is still there hours later but I have some questions... Don't sattelites stay in continuous motion in orbit around the earth?? Wouldn't that make them move very slowly across the sky? And would they be as bright as the moon in blue sky? I'm not sure if this is the same or similar thing people around the world have seen lately, but it sure does make you wonder. |

met1986 User ID: 1128494 United States 10/13/2010 04:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been seeing this "star/planet", whatever, consistently since February of 2009, and have been trying to research it online ever since, without any logical answers. This twinkling red blue and white "star" is always south of Orions belt, and I have seen it EVERY month since 2008! This includes while I was living in New Hampshire until 2009, and also while I was living across the country (currently) in California. The only difference is, that it seems to be getting brighter and closer. The only thing I have been able to find online are comments that it's "a plane, or Venus, or Sirius, or whatever. First of all - planes move - this "star" has not moved since 2008, and I've lived around airports and military bases all of my life. I have checked different astronomy sights, and it is NOT Venus, Sirius, whatever. Also, it seems that this "star" is like 3 separate lights - two on top, and one on the bottom - and they pulse, with the red and blue lights more brilliant that the white/yellow light. Again, I have seen this "star" in the same location for over two years in the same location, every month for two years, in two different time zones across the country - the only thing that has changed over time, is that it is much closer and brighter - Seriously, what the hell is it? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 974904 United States 12/18/2010 09:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Agreed, I've looked at it with the binoculars a bunch of times. I can see satelites next to it with different colors. Also distinct shapes. I didn't read through this entire thread but Sirius sounds like the most logical conclusion. But Sirius is another galaxy, why would it be headed toward us, or us toward it? Or hell, maybe the sun in the sirius system is getting more active? Sure would like to know the answer to this, it's weird. |
