Quoting: Buck Knife This thought of global power grid failure is really scary when you live the scenario in your mind. If that happened, your power goes out, you think it's just a power outage, a local event. Then you go to make some phone calls. No service. I stumbled upon a few things over the past few years searching for truth: The electric universe for one, the expanding earth theory for one other, and the notion that we have all been essentially given bad science for a long, long, time to keep the truth hidden. Ther are many fundamental flaws with basic ideas surrounding our supposed understanding of how the universe works, and in order to explain away these conflicts the supposed experts have had to resort to invention and fantasy. No such methods are needed with the electric universe model. A simple person like myself can quite easily comprehend the general ideas. So...I think they do do know, they just don't quite know what will pass for a plausible explantion based on the false science they have forewarded as knowledge. |

Is a thirteen year old car "newer?" yes, it relies on a computer to run the engine. any fuel inject gas engine relies on a computer, that includes most cars back in the 80's. there is also the problem of electronic ignition which goes back into the 70's. easy way to tell, if it has a catalytic converter it most likely will not run after an emp. gearheads will know what changes to make to everything up to an 198X [there were some diesel trucks built in the late 80's also]. make sure it uses a carburetor and points, or keep an extra module for an early electronic ignition [hei, duraspark and whatever it was dodge used] in some kind of protective enclosure to replace the one that will be burned up. |

If you have an engine like I do in my 94 Sierra that has a mechanical distributor, it is p[possible to convert it to run with a points/condenser/coil ignition by simply replacing the distributor with one out of a six cylinder engine that predates electronic ignition. Then all you have to do is replace the throttle body injector with a carburetor , stuff any half way decent mechanic can do.If you've got a car or truck that has no distributor driving off the camshaft, you're screwed basically |

We're talking cars made before the IC chips were used for everything. If it has a carb instead of fuel injection, and a distributor and coil you should be okay. Alternator might be blown but this could be fixed. Probably about 1978-older depending on models. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1185535 United States 09/27/2011 11:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, Quoting: Anonymous Coward 176293I asked about this already some pages ago, but is there any info you could shed on the timeline? - When was it first observed that "something's not right"? - Have the events developed from there in a linear fashion, or more exponentially? Do you expect things to continue to develop at the same speed? - If you would have to throw in your best guess, when will be the worst moments, when we really need to learn to live without certain things? Withing months, years, or decades? I can reply to your second question. When what is happening progresses, and depending on things which can be involved - but we have no way to know for sure - this can escalate really quickly. We, and I mean everyong, won't have much notice. Not knowing which telecoms will be affected first - it's hard to know how whatever notice we get will be delivered. Personally, I have decided that when I hear - through any verifiable source(s) - that a major metro area is experiencing 'problems' with their power - that's my personal que. Like I said previously - the power grid in US is automatic and can cascade offline quickly. I don't know how else to put it. The real science behind this dictates that there won't be much time for anyone who might wish to - to give a notice. I personally do not believe there will be any official notice of an incoming CME. What I wish would happen would be for others who could - to agree in public that this is about to be a problem. like the San Diego blackout they blamed on two severed lines? |
