You hit the nail on the head. Even bad trips on weed can be surprisingly traumatic. I wouldn't touch shrooms unless the stars were aligned and I was sure I would have a good time. Its a good idea to have some valium handy to stop a bad trip early.

Shrooms are for people that can't handle acid...

Ate a top once that must have weighed 2 or 3 gms. It was like eating a cookie. Hit real fast. Faster than usual. Lost my hearing. I could not hear anything. My friend got in the truck at the Sonic and his lips were moving but nothing. Couldn't even hear the truck door slam. Thing about the bad trips, they still last 24 hrs or more.

I witnessed my own mortality on a bad mushroom trip. It still haunts me, the vision. SO yeah, it's possible but rare. I'd have to say 1% of my trips were bad. The rest were so amazing that I highly recommend it to anyone willing to get out.

Yeah, I've had profound experiences, as well. It's just that most of the time I can't stop smiling/laughing, and whatever I try to imagine becomes hysterical. One time though, on acid, I opened a random number generator. Toward the end, after nearly 20 hours of the trip, I slipped into a sleep-like state and in the "dream", there was a fat, rugged type guy with teeth missing, and I was massaging his neck and arms telling him it was going to be okay, while he was explaining that he was a trucker and had just gotten into a head-on collision and died.

I've never had a bad trip on anything, and I've done a shit load of drugs.

Do them the right way.. no external stimuli, no sitters.
Just get comfortable in a very dark room.. pitch black if possible.. and if you want to potentiate the experience grind the mushrooms up in a coffee grinder and add just enough lemon juice to create a slush.. let sit for half hour or so and drink. have fun!
