NATO-Turkey gets ready for military confrontation with Israel | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 960208 United States 05/31/2010 03:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | WW3 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 987635Not WWIII, remember Turkey is a NATO member. Turkey znd israeli war quite likely. So israel now has another front with a nation with a huge military and a NATO member. Not a very good idea imo. Israel will pulverize Turkey if Turkey chooses to act. It would be within Israel's right, and their response would be so awesome and brutal, no other country in the world would dare threaten them again. If they pulverized Turkey, as you say, other NATO countries would be obliged by law and the NATO mutual defence treaty to strike israel Yes. ***The United States has a military base in Turkey. |

Quoting: DanfromtheHillsMy first link was a nice, short, relatively easy to read little document... [link to untreaty.un.org] Turns out to be just the tip of this legal Iceberg. Here's the whole thing... [link to www.un.org] Sigh, really don't know where to start... After browsing this document, it appears the Turkish ship gave up it's right to peaceful passage when it declared it's intent to guard the other ships, just my layman opinion, and it doesn't mean much. You would have to know the exact coordinates of the ship, at the time of the incident to know the specific area of law to apply to this case. Hei dude, can you tell us whats the feeling in your country right now ? what the people think of all of this that happened , and do you think the military will do anything? thank you Quoting: Bazork!zionist morons ruling israel succeeded in uniting everyone. intellectual left, psychopath right, are all united in reaction to israel. even the army is quite annoyed, despite they dont like the current islamist party in power. its impossible to say anything positive about israel now. and there isnt anything positive that can be said either. |

[link to www.un.org] Like I said, you need to know exactly where the ship was to decide which set of laws is applicable. Most of the sections I've read so far, have the same concept to them, a ship is peaceful as long as it is declared as so, and acts as such. When it acts or declares it's intentions to be other than peaceful, ie gaurd ships threatening to deliver unknown goods to an agitated part of your own country you would naturally loose the right of peaceful passage.
