Anonymous Coward User ID: 954745 United States 06/05/2010 09:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe I can share, have had constant pain for 20 years. I use aspirin, aleve and tylenol3. I constantly search for ways to stop the pain for a few hours, it is pretty disheartening so far ! The aleve works pretty well. Aspirin is real good if I use 4, tho it is shorter-lived. Any less is moot. As far as stomach, I have had 3 ulcers in the past when I did NOT use aspirin, now I take tons of aspirin and no ulcers so far ! I do use rolaids occasionally, so maybe that helps. The reason I stress aspirin is because as you may know, Aleve, tylenol, all those new nsaids kill your liver and kidneys (and heart also,) so I try not to use them often. They are in the vicodin and tylenol 3s anyway, Gov forces them to add the crap to the pain meds, for pharma profit firstly. Secondly, I read that they put acetaminophen in to keep people from taking too much because as I said, it destroys your liver, kidneys, and then heart, and they figure we know that and won't become addicts because the acetaminophen is too dangerous.(Love that nanny state logic !) Aspirin comes from willow bark originally, so a health food store may be able to get willow bark tea or such that may be a better option than synthetic ASA. Of course, Only thing that stops the pain entirely, for 2 hours at least, is 2 tylenol 3s. For my condition prednisone also is awesome, but hard to get. I have an inflammatory condition in every joint. People used to drink poppy seed tea in the evening, but that is a bit challenging in 2010.(how i envy them, nanny, save me!) If you can get some alternative medicine source, I vote for the poppy. Of course they are illegal here. I wish you the best, and hope you get more advice. I, too, will read any advice here. Peace to you. |

Not quite as strong as a narcotic pain killer, but you should notice a big difference than just taking one type by itself. |

When I take either, I take three of each (because of my weight, appx. 350). Would it be safe/ok to take three Tylenol and 3 Advils then? |

I'm at 170 and I'll take 600mgs of ibuprofen with 1000mgs of Tylenol at the same time and it's fine. I don't do it every day, but when my pain gets too intense I step it up a notch. |

It helps me sleep and is as close to a prescribed pain relief I have come across. Don't get the extra strength as it is a different formula. Excedrine is good during the day. Asprin/Tylenol/Caffeine mixture. I used to take Tylenol all the time, until in Vegas when I couldn't shake a migrane. Tried Execedrine and it worked like a charm, although I had to pop a few every 4 hours or so for a couple days. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 988584Take the vicodin with a few glasses of booze it will increase its affects wont affect any drug/alcohol tests. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory not a pain killer it is different. pain is inflammation. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 944713I've done tylenols, then an hr later done 800 mg ibuprofen. It is NOT as effective as vicodin. But will help you deal with the pain. Make sure you take with food in your stomach. --- Make an effort to get to the point of not taking any meds. I don't think it is good for your body to take such meds for long term .. Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Quit blaming others for your bad choices. Consequences happen. :enaid11: |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 954745 United States 06/05/2010 10:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like real natural opium, it's much better than synthetic prescription opiates. I'm passing a kidney stone and opium combined with medical marijuana is doing the trick for me. The only side effect I've had from it is constipation. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 934958I am so glad for you, tho this opinion may be unpopular, lol. Life is a hard asz sucker and I feel we should have the right to seek pain relief as needed. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 913153 United States 06/05/2010 10:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I take Neurontin. It swells my foot, but takes care of the phantom pain a little better than using nothing. It's prescribed for nerve pain, generally for diabetics. I hear it works for some, not for others. But the side effects are fairly minimal. |
