Sometimes , I have the impression that the West treats the history of my country as a taboo. Why?

I feel two trends in the West. Representatives of the first interpretting Poland as nothing , piece of human mass without importance or even object of an orthodox hate, representatives of the second are trying to be objective and are ready to help Poland and other countries for the common fighting against evil - ex. Ronald Reagan. They have no complexes when talking about my country , like the first ones.

it's taboo because u.s films forces very strongly something like : replace the polish guerrillas by the russian guerrillas , erase polish guerrillas (WWII). They don't see a Pole (when there is a Pole) they see the citizen of the Middle - East Europe.

OP, here is a good example: Obama (puppet) told the Polish that they were going to remove the Missile shield, do u recall the day?

Give a F___ is a swear word first of all, one of the bad ones. You wouldnt say it to your mother OP or your grandmother either or the church ever.

The actual meaning of that word is sex but it is used in other ways to be sarcastic or as a slang word.
Give a F__ would mean that someone does not care or they usually say I dont give a F___. Understand?

I remember Lech Walesa..back in the good old days.

All Polish people I know are very hard working and yet, some of them went home (from London), for a better life. I can't blame them. They thought that we were TOO racist over here.

Don´t worry OP, now that Lech Kaczynski and the treasurer are dead nothing stands in the way of Poland coming more into the news and history.

You do know that Poland was doing fine and declined IMF funds/loan renewals? In fact they wanted to get debt free all together within 10 years, being completely independent from central banks and in particular the WB/IMF.

That was before the plane crash in Smolensk that is.

Now that the bad men have been replaced with good little puppets the west can welcome Poland with open arms.

Tell them to read James Michener's Poland. It's a good read
and the historical accuracy is acceptable. I learned a lot about
your country when I read that book. It's a good starting
point. One thing that stuck with me was how reluctant the
rest of Europe was willing to accept that Poles were Christians
for a very long time and kept fighting wars to convert people
who didn't need it.

I think Americans don't know much about Poland for the same reason they don't know much about Slavic countries in general. Got lumped into the Soviet Union, and didn't pertain to us personally that much.

Not taboo.

Most Americans are ignorant. Poland get a small blurb (few paragraphs)in a history book. Mostly related to WW II.

They figure, if it was important, we would hear more about it.

GLPers are the ones who questioned this and augmented their learning after the state indoctrination.
