Wealthy people tend to wall themselves off from the rest of society (figuratively and literally). 1) Why are you allowing everyone to know you have money? I don't let anyone know about my finances except to some degree the kids. We don't drive status cars. We live in a nice house and a nice neighborhood, but not a status house in a status neighborhood. I know I spend a lot less on clothes than most people I know who have much less money than we have. It's nobody's business what your net worth is except your own. Don't go around flaunting it or you probably won't have a lot of friends. 2) There are people in dire need now, have always been, and will always be. Pick out a couple of causes you feel deeply about and do what you can. We go with environmental (endangered species) causes. I also work with disadvantaged kids. You have to understand you can't help everyone. Plus, a lot of those in need will always be in need no matter how much you give to them because they have never learned the skills necessary to take care of themselves adequately. 3) What's wrong with being happy? It doesn't mean you are dumb or are unaware of what's going on in this world. It's better than being depressed your whole life. 4) Well, you cannot make people love you. They either do or they don't and it's not worth worrying about. Be friendly, respectful, helpful, and don't worry about whether people love you or not...it just doesn't matter. If you are a good person, that's all that counts. Also, you talk about others loving you...you don't talk about loving others. Have you put enough effort into your own self so that you are capable of love? While it's your life, don't be so self-centered. You would worry less about what people thought of you if you really knew how little they actually do think about you. 5) Get evaluated for depression.

OP you just need real friends, you know the kind that would hang out at a beach with you, talk and drink a bottle of wine. Real people and yes Canadians do seem to target people if they think they have $$$ or will benefit.

You are not alone, I can see it would be depressing and not feel real. Thing is not everyone is like that, yes it takes time to find the right ones that give back in ways that are appreciated...but you can find some. I know some and some of them have felt the same way you do...it is a matter of testing peoples intentions, which is tiring. There are good people out there that would never ask or use you, believe me, that statement is so true.

so, what you do is buy a beat-up pickup truck and put on a flannel shirt, jeans, and boots and you wander the land acting like you are just some blue-collar working dude in-between jobs, meet people, maybe relocate to some place you like even if just for a few months, get some human contact with regular folks and people who like you for yourself, and get yourself back on track.

pretend, imagine, and find yourself again. have fun. take a break. travel. get down with the regular folks as they say, but in an serious way looking for whatever/whomever you think might just fulfill you.

it is not hard; try it. just take a few months off to be a regular dude. you will figure it out.

Be thankful for everything good in your life, everyday, and watch your happiness increase.

Don't worry about saving the world OP, when the world needs a hero most people will figure out their own problems and save themselves because they have to.

Love is a chemical imbalance. OP pick the people you like and surround yourself with them whether they are moochers or not, at least you won't be alone.

Take some time to feed some wildlife, like birds OP. They don't give a rats how much money you have.

I feel sad for you. But why not use your money to upgrade my account? You see, a little thing like that would make me very happy. If you can make me happy, You will be happy.

Take some money and go to some homeless shelters. Pass some of it around and when they smile at you and thank you, you will be happy.

Do a little gesture every day, don't break the bank, but just little things that people will give you their blessings for.

OP do not be sad in fact you have everything in the world to be happy about.You are about to learn one of life's great lessons.You feel empty because what you have always thought "making it" was the answer, but now you see its not.Funny part is by being a millionaire you isolate yourself from a good majority of the folks who already figured out that how much money and stuff you have doesn't mean shit.These are the folks you want to be a part of because they choose to be with you because you are you. But you will never meet them by flaunting your wealth as this only proves how misguided you really are.
Some had suggested giving your money away but I disagree just put it aside for awhile.You will find many wonderful uses for it once you find yourself and those you want to spend your life with.You have been given an opportunity do not blow it before you get started.
