Queensland floods continue - Getting worse - Check out the video

It has been raining here for days and days, non-stop. I am on a range of hills above the worst areas, and just to the south of the huge flooded areas you have seen on the news over the last few days.

The situation is this - yesterday and last night, mega-amounts of rain fell in several major local catchment areas, and today a wall of water rushed through the centre of Toowoomba, sweeping cars and people everywhere.

As I sit typing this, people are evacuating their homes in the Esk and Gatton areas, because a wall of water is rushing down towards them, and on towards Brisbane.

Just to the north the town of Gympie is already seriously flooded, and a shit-load more is on its way to them, and then onto already flooded Maryborough at the mouth of the Mary River. Maleny recorded over 330mm of rain yesterday, so they said on the radio today.

Several parts of south east Queensland are reporting land-slips as houses slide down saturated hillsides into their neighbours.

That pretty makes most of Queensland totally flooded and stuffed up for months and years to come.

-43 rooftop rescues so far, 7 reported dead so far - numbers expected to rise - lots missing

-described an 'inland tsunami' hitting Toowoomba, and 'a wall of water' swept down the Lockyer valley towns

-expected to hit Brisbane in 6 hours ...

-some reports say the wall of water was/is 9 metres high (?)

-lots of electricity blackouts



and it is still bucketing down here in the catchment area, so more is on the way

Today my town got washed out. My rooms under my house were flooded - our verandah has been twisted.

All my food storage is floating - its all in a room thats full of water and the buckets of food are floating.

A house got washed down our creek and a 40ft shipping container went floating down the main road lodging into someones 4wd.

Local businesses destroyed.

I have had a huge day.

Our town is under evacuation in all low lying areas and so i have 15 people including 11 kids now in my house.

We were washed out and i am 268 metres above sea level.

Bloody amasing.

This is HUGE! I'm truely shocked by the vid and the pics. Wall of water on a big scale, that IS a plain TSUNAMI there! Please stay safe all of you brave Aussies in and around the Queensland area!

Maleny, near where I live, got 294mm yesterday, and today will be well over 150mm before its over.

All that water is adding to the floods in both directions, north and south of here.

More bad news for Gympie and Maryborough.

Global flooding... I was thinking about those Vanuatu quakes to the North Nort East of Queensland, can't they be adding to these floods too? Maybe through raising the waterlevel on a bigger scale, not so much due to tsunami's after the big quakes??
