It was on, then they changed it and they have changed it back again.

What I want to know is...

It clearly states at top there should be 4 planets and 4 satellites.

I can only count 3 planets and 4 Sats, so where is Mercury???

The orange circle with a black square around it is Messenger, there should be another orange circle for Mercury or am I missing something?

Edit: Ok, someone just explained to me on another thread that Messenger and Mercury are in the same position.

There was a flare with a CME from region 1273 at approx 5:43UT 8/17/2011. This flare occured after GOES recording of the flare from Region 1272 at 4:29 UT recorded as a C2.3 and is incorporated in that reading. Region 1273 is located in the southern hemisphere of the solar disk and is Earth facing. Although this CME was relatively small it was Earth directed. Because of the location of Region 1273 I expect that this CME will arive charged + to - and will create less of a geomagnetic disturbance.

Power cuts threat as sun storm hits earth

A huge mass of electrically-charged particles thrown out by a gigantic eruption on the Sun is due to strike the Earth tonight.
Scientists expect it to trigger one of the most violent geomagnetic storms ever recorded.
The result could be widespread power surges and even blackouts, disrupted TV and mobile phone signals, and broken down communication satellites.

Is this for real,not up on the daily mail. If this is true they hid this one well!

At least one satellite has already been knocked out of action by the storm. Japan's space agency said its Kodama communications satellite had been temporarily shut down after malfunctioning.

The solar flare that caused the eruption burst out of a sunspot at 10.54am yesterday.

Experts said it was the strongest flare seen in the past 30 years. The explosion caused a coronal mass ejection (CME) which is now speeding towards Earth.

Disruption

Last week another CME only hit the Earth a glancing blow, yet was able to disrupt airline communications.

The solar flare was classified as an X18-category explosion, meaning it can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms.

Although the charged particles present no direct danger to people on the ground, they could have a devastating effect on electrical equipment.

Geomagnetic storms are classified on a scale of one to five. Initial indications are that the looming storm could reach the highest G5 level and last for 24 hours.

X18 flare? where? It is not on the Xray flux. During that time frame the highest xflux reading is a C3.4 flare from Region 1271 off the NE limb(not Earth facing)the flare started at 10:19 lasted untill 10:42, peaking at 10:30UT. I don't see it on global D. There is no large flare seen on SDO. There is not a large CME seen on SDO,Stereo, or SOHO. Is this some kind of a bad joke? It better be!

Yes it was. So I went to the site my self and there was nothing of the sort on the site today. I then did a search for the story and found it. The story was from Oct. of 2003 see below.

BREAKING NEWS: Later today, NASA will release images from the STEREO spacecraft showing solar storms from a radically new point of view. Tune into NASA TV at 2 pm EDT for the press conference.

Significant precursor signal seen at 1610utc/1210est. Possible 6+.

Radio Direction Finder has signal coming in South East of France from somewhere out in the Mid to Southern portions of the Pacific plate to Chile to Caribbean Islands.
