I recently got back from an 8-day trip to Guatemala. I was lucky enough to spend Holy Week there. I have never seen such a religious and truly humble culture. For Holy Week, all the Catholic churches come together to put on the ceremonies. This is the closest I have ever been to one religion, and I am not Catholic. It was an incredible experience. Out of all my years growing up and going to Church three times a week, I have never felt as close to God and Mother Nature as I did in Guatemala.

They are good to the land, and the land gives back to them beautiful fruit and vegetables. The cities take care of the poor by providing communal laundry areas and water. They live in a symbiotic relationship with Nature and the volcanoes. I literally would feel safer there after an ELE than in the States. At least I know there is abundant water and fruit sources.

Those of us in the US should really be more humble and thankful for what we do have. We really need to heal the Earth, and quit covering her up with concrete.

Well, a CME from the sun, whether from a flare or a filament, if Earth facing and large enough, could take down the electric grid of the whole world during a 24 hour period. How bad it could be would depend on how large the CME is. Also, it wouldn't necessarily be just one blast, as many who follow the sun's activity know, it at times sends several waves at us at a time. Said that for those who have back up plans to their preps for CME's or even EMP's (which are man made), wait a week or so before trying to use your back ups or they could get fried also.

The Carrington Event of 1859 was during low sun activity. Can't remember if it was during the solar minimum or in between max and min, but it was NOT during the solar max for that cycle.

Why they are talking about it now, I haven't a clue when many are coming to the conclusion that our current cycle already reached Max last fall for the north and now the sun is heading to max or has just passed it also. Anything that turns Earth facing that shows the promise of decent activity (we need the activity to strengthen our magnetic field which protects us from solar radiation and cosmic rays), just dies and decays. No one can answer WHY that is happening unless it is Fluffy influencing it, like many on here have been wondering for a while now.

That is just the .0002 cents worth of my opinion, lol

Too many of us seem to be coming to the same conclusions for there not to be real substance to it. Your post gave me actual goosebumps. It's getting real for me in a way that I can't even begin to explain yet, thoughts are just too new to put into words or even feelings yet.

We are staying put for now. There is no way we could possibly afford to move. 99% of the people here are in the same situation. I'm beginning to wonder if anywhere is safe. :-)

That sounds very appealing to me. It's like a combination of Native American living meets modern necessities--laundry and so forth. When plants, animals, people...are taken care of...they too give back and produce.

obviously 54 is a good age to be :) I am feeling pretty old, but oh so wise. I can see all the drastic earth changes happening right before my eyes. It is only us older crowd that can see and FEEL!

The content is not anything that hasn't been discussed...and oftentimes, after we have had a bigger CME the main stream media trots out their experts to remind the public of the possibilities.

I think what's interesting is that this is being discussed when very little action is going on. Also note the little info gathering tool at the bottom. I think it's more about THAT than anything....getting a sampling of the public.

Or maybe their websites are giving false info in the first place. I have seen many times where solar wind disturbance being very high with no indication of a solar cme or flare showing up on the web sites. Just a thought.
