Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1085867 United States 07/03/2011 10:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was just curious about what's going on out there since losing my wife back in March. so I end up on Yahoo mesenger chating and latter texting. I ask about her birthday and it's right around the corner right. So I offer to send her a card and gift box to be nice and I ask her if there is anything she needs. She wants an expensive new 4G phone and I'm like uh... no hon. But I send her a package and card anyways. Candles, for when the power goes out, some chocolates she sent me as a gift(part of the long story)a teddybear that says nurses give from the heart etc. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1085867 United States 07/03/2011 10:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | no it's ok but I was intrigued by how good the scam was. I had no idea this went on. even showed me herself on a webcam in the same room the pictures were she was sending I didn't give her anything but was shocked when I found the scam and she just kept it going like the gig wasn't up yet. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1085867 United States 07/03/2011 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I made a report with an agency the works with cyber crime and contacted the SA in both the US and Ghana and gave them all the info I had. I can see how people would get caught up in this really bad. They were patient and persistent and when I called them out she tried to convince me that I had ruined her career and she now stuck there. lol Just really fucking weird. Fuck the dating strangers shit I just don't want to go out to the bars. I thought this was a safe way to test the waters as the house is getting kinda quiet but damn ... ... here there be monsters!!! |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1085867 United States 07/03/2011 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | so I guess I'm the only one who never heard of this till now. Creepy! My friend was dating a young woman for awhile and she turned into a stalking psycho so Im kinda nervous about getting into any of that kind of trouble. I was with my wife for 17 years so I really don't have a clue. The world seems to of changed a lot but then again, maybe not. lol |

Ghenghis User ID: 1348975 United States 07/04/2011 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They are all over the place OP. I've had multiple conversations with Russian supermodels who all want to come to Florida and "make me the happiest man on earth." The only catch is, they all need $1000 to finish paying for their ticket. lmao They are easy to spot, and they never answer direct questions. They just send you form letters and pics hoping to catch a fish. Report this jagoff to the site admin. and use them for entertainment. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1292314 United States 07/04/2011 02:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey I was just caught up in the weirdest 3 weeks of my life. Quoting: Douglass FirHas anyone had or encountered this thru the net? Met someone, seemed nice. A nurse doing service work with the Salvation Army who said she was from Australia. Seemed harmless enough to chat with for awhile then when I told a friend about it he said to watch out because there were all these scams being run out of Ghana of the same nature. Now I don't know what to think except everything she/he/whoever did was right down the line with a scam I found at a website for internet scams. Just don't want anyone to get screwed in one of these. Any info at all would be appreciated. Just give her your credit card and bank account numbers. It'll be okay. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1392081 United States 07/04/2011 02:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | United States citizens should be alert to attempts at fraud by persons claiming to live outside of the U.S., professing friendship, romantic interest, and /or marriage intentions over the Internet. Typically, once a connection is made, the correspondent asks the U.S. citizen to send money or credit card information for living expenses, travel expenses, or "visa costs". Sometimes, the correspondent notifies the American citizen that a close family member, usually the mother, is in desperate need of surgery and begins to request monetary assistance. Scams have even advanced to the point where the U.S. citizen is informed of a serious or fatal accident to the correspondent and the “family” asks for money to cover hospital or funeral costs. Several citizens report losing thousands of dollars through such scams. [link to travel.state.gov] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1275414 United States 07/04/2011 02:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You didnt explain the situation that well.. Im confused how she actually tried scamming you? Just faked that she was interested in you and asked for a gift on her birthday? And yeah, many scams are coming from Ghana, people acting as poor black people come into paltalk Christian rooms(cause Christians are the only people who give to the poor these days it seems) and they say they need food, or they private message everyone in the room, its pretty annoying because they just want money all the time.. if they are really poor I would help them out, but I have no money to give anyway.. So yeah, I guess thats a form of a scam, they always say their from Ghana too, not sure why, as their are many countries in africa and I would suspect more nations do this too, you could actually make 50+ dollars a day probably doing this yourself lol. |

Was awkward as hell, probable stay away from that too. ahhh, I forgot how much fun this was ... LOL single ... to be or not to be that is the question! |
