Quoting: AlterEgo The articles and simulation(s) chiefly concern themselves with La Palma. Presently, it is a the smaller island at the end of the chain, correct? Yes. But IMHO any seismic activity in that region is a threat to all the islands and could cause a landslide on any of them. ...and potentially the vulcanism could also start occuring on the other islands as well? They must be somehow all connected to the same magma chamber that formed the island chain- or is that a stretch? I vaguely remember reading this somewhere. I don't need scientific proof that they are all connected underground. They must be part of an underground lava chute that opens at various points on the surface, those islands being them. So that could also happen....sorry to be a pest, but my entire family lives in S.FL and six(correction-9) hours wouldnt be enough time to evacuate that area. El Golfo is a major debris avalanche on the northern flank of Hierro Island, dated about 13,000 years ago. It has a width of 15 km and a scarp height of 1000 m. The landslide deposited 150-180 cubic km of debris on the seafloor down to a depth of 3000 m. If this thing goes down again, it will produce a 100 m tsunami at 800 km an hour headed for the US East coast. |

Islands of volcanic origin, such as the Canaries, have an especially large potential for triggering a tsunami. That the Canaries constitute a danger was shown 300 000 years ago when a part of the island El Hierro slid into the sea, triggering a mega-tsunami which carried rocks as high as a house for many hundreds of metres into the interior of the east coast of what is today the USA. The danger of a similar island collapse is seen by scientists particularly at the island of La Palma in the Canaries. Here, following a volcanic eruption in 1949 almost half of the mountain range of 20 km moved westwards towards the sea, leaving a large tear in the volcanic basalt. In the event of a fresh eruption, a huge part of the volcano could loosen itself due to differences in the types of rock and diverse water deposits within the now active volcano. As a result, the densely populated east coast of America would be massively threatened. According to a computer simulation by Stephen N. Ward and Simon Day, a tsunami (purple-red on the graphics) would rush across the Atlantic if the slopes of the Cumbre Vieja.volcano were to collapse into the sea. I wonder if a large scale nuclear weapon could send that cliff into the sea as well? This is also something to think about. TPTB will take advantage of any situation. Does the Iranian ship at sea in Atlantic Ocean have anything to do with this also? |

Excerpt; Quoting: El Quisqueyano Try to surf this: a wave almost twice as tall as the Empire State Building, and traveling faster than an airplane, at a breathtaking 700 kilometers per hour. Enough to give you the creeps, right? Well, it should. For the question is not so much if such a massive wave will one day slosh across the oceans -- but when. [link to www.exitmundi.nl] A Wave of Destruction Will Destroy America's East Coast By Ian Gurney Excerpt; Recently, scientists have realised that the next Mega Tsunami is likely to begin on one of the Canary Islands, off the coast of North Africa, where a wall of water will one day race across the entire Atlantic Ocean at the speed of a jet airliner to devastate the east coast of the United States, the Caribbean and Brazil. THIS HAS BEEN DEBUNKED ALREADY, STOP IT. Three scientists say that half of La Palma will fall into the sea and cause a tsunami that will wipe out much of the population of the eastern seaboard of the USA. They are wrong. La Palma will not slide into the sea. Even if it did, it wouldn't cause a tsunami that would reach the USA Why are they saying it will? Almost certainly to obtain funding for their own research projects. The worlds scientific experts have shown the "research" by Ward/Day/McGuire to be incorrect, unproven and wildly exaggerated both in the Horizon program and subsequent interviews. It is not based on scientific facts. New York has nothing to fear from La Palma. The island is stable. Only a substantial increase in height could cause it to become unstable and at the current rate of growth that would take at least 10,000 years, This news spoils the fun for the media, disaster-mongers and hazard industry, but fortunately for the supposed potential victims and the people of the Canary Islands there is nothing to worry about on La Palma. The content of the BBC Horizon television program has been disproved by fellow scientists and the even the BBC itself has published a partial retraction under the title "Tidal wave threat "over-hyped" Read the facts about the situation here: [link to www.lapalma-tsunami.com] |
