It's not about your works, it's about your faith in Him. If our good deeds could get us into heaven, there would have been no need for Jesus to come and die for all the world's sins... Just work towards knowing Jesus, if weed helps you do that, partake, and do so in moderation.

Another lost "christian." One of billions.

OP, go thy tiny ways to the source of the subject: The dead sea scrolls. There you will find that Jesus frowns upon intoxicants, but that you may cleanse yourself of all past sins by fasting for 7 days.

It's that simple.

Jesus is not coming to save you. Only YOU can save you. Jesus and others already left all the information you need. You just need to seek it out.

Seek and ye shall find?

I have not read all the pages, yet...but...

I believe it is only a sin if you put weed before God..family, etc..when it starts controlling your life and you feel you MUST have it, then it is a problem...remember, moderation...drinking wine was mentioned in the Bible..unless it was excessive(alcoholics)..

in other words, if weed becomes your God, then yes, you might have a problem..see what I am saying.?? ;)

No, it's not. Ask any Rastafarian...it is considered to be "God's plant"...

The one thing we can be clear on...thanks to the Councils of Nicea...1, 2 and 3 and the Councils of Constantinople 1 and 2...we can rest assured that the book everyone holds with such high esteem had the hand of man all over it.

I am not saying that everything in the book is a lie...but there has been "creative editing" throughout the ages to draw down a pre-concluded response.

Anything that man has a hand in is more than likely corrupt...the plant is natural...for the most part.

Man made booze...God made weed....who do you trust?

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
I think that you really know the answer to this question, but I will give you the short and long version.

1. Short version. Yes, smoking marijuana is a sin. The definition of "sin" is "missing the mark". Using any mild-altering substance (alcohol, pot, any other non-prescribed medication) is altering your brain chemistry and by definition "a sin".

2. Long version. Why is altering my brain chemistry missing the mark? Doing anything that harms your body is missing the mark. Your body is the temple of Christ.

When did my body become the temple of Christ?
Under the old testament, animals were sacrificed for mankind's "missing the mark or sin". People brought animals to the temple and the priest went into the "holy of holies" and sacrificed these animals to God so that mankind could be forgiven. (OLD TESTAMENT WAY)

Under the new testament, Christ did away with the sacrifice process and BECAME our eternal sacrifice, for our past sins, our present sins and our future sins. So we went from having animal sacrifice to Christ being our eternal sacrifice. (that is why he had to die on the cross).

Now, since we don't sacrifice animals anymore, Christ also did away with the idea that we had to go to the holy of holies temples and pray through a priest. With Christ, our body now BECOMES the temple and Christ lives IN us. So because Christ is now residing IN us -- we have to keep the temple as clean as possible. Christ also did away with the idea that we have to pray through priests -- now we have a direct line from our prayer directly to God through Christ -- not through priests.

So -- the reason you cannot smoke pot, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or anything else detrimental to your health is because your body, once you accept Christ as your savior, now becomes a holy temple and should not be defiled.

Having said all that -- I think you already knew this answer but you wanted to see it in print.

Here is your sign.

In love.

So by your definition drinking coffee is a sin due to the stimulants that caffeine releases thus altering your body...

I don't think this is a stupid thread as most Christians suffer from guilt and are conflicted about pot....ooh this feels good and therefore it must be a sin.... Nonsense... God created that plant to be used by us...it's man that made it a crime and therefore burdens many with guilt ( breaking the law...doing something illegal) etc etc and man made the laws to ban the weed because it is just that... A weed...it grows in the wild for free...anyone can grow it and if they did what need would many have for booze?

I assure you that if one could mix baking soda and water and create vodka...lthat vodka and baking soda too would be deemed evil and illegal....it's about business and control

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
GOD is great in love and power, and we have been created to love GOD above all things with our free will, because it is GOD WHO has given us all things to enjoy (in their right context) because we are infinitely loved by GOD, and even when we have been defective creatures (to say the least) with all the sin of humans going against their nature, we have not been destroyed, but we have seen the loving mercy of our LORD JESUSCHRIST

Everything that harms you or others is a sin, because it goes against the loving will of our CREATOR
marijuana, or any other toxic substance harms your body, and brings nothing good to us humans at all. all it can do for us is numb us, and make us forget about reality.
The negative effects are always death, like with any other sin. if you smoke marijuana, you will be killing your brain, and your lungs. you will also be putting your muscles in a uncomfortably relaxed situation. that is in a physical context. now in a spiritual context, marijuana or any other poison will destroy you. it will make you forget about our loving CREATOR, and it will keep you blinded from seeing how much we are always being blessed by our loving CREATOR, because the most any of us will get when we are sinning is Divine Correction from our LORD.

if people stopped accepting sin, and asked our LORD JESUSCHRIST to show them Truth with an open heart they would be able to see how GOD is real, and is always blessing us with what we need to be perfect humans. yes, we can be perfect, and all it takes is faith in our FATHER, so that we may never sin, but alway love. like our LORD JESUSCHRIST has loved us.

not superstition, nor brainwash at all. Christianity is more than just a religion. there is a GOD who has created all the universe because of love, and WHO, in GOD's divine love has not destroy all sin, but has patience for them to repent, but the time always come when if you do not reject sin, you always see the dead end.

our LORD JESUSCHRIST is more than an idol. HE is The Way to our CREATOR (where we should be), The Truth about human nature (how we should be), and The Light to guide us through the darkness that still has a hold on many humans, because they let it abuse their natural instincts and become slaves of it.

GOD's children (those who live how all humans should live) do not need any drug to feel at peace, get hungry, or even go to sleep. all we need is righteous prayer with faith in the infinite power of our GOD who has created all the stars in heaven, and everything on earth. we also need to love at all times, and reject all sin.

the prayer of a righteous heart is powerful, because GOD listens to all of us at all times, and answers when it is good for our hearts.

may you and all those around you always walk in the only peace, the peace of our LORD JESUSCHRIST

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
Is smoking marijuana a sin?

“Neither the effeminate, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards...will possess the kingdom of God” (I Cor. 6:10). Drunkenness is a deliberate excess in the use of intoxicating drink or drugs to the point of forcibly depriving oneself of the use of reason for the sake of gratifying an inordinate desire for such drink and not for the sake of promoting health. This is contrary to the virtue of temperance, and specifically sobriety. Sobriety regulates man’s desire and use of intoxicants, and is vitally necessary for an upright moral life. The evil of intoxication lies in the violence committed against one’s nature by depriving it of the use of reason. He deprives himself of that which makes him specifically human - his ability to think. The drunk, or in this case the drug user, desires this loss of reason because of the feeling of liberation which accompanies it precisely from this lack of control of the will over the reason. It is unnatural, contrary to sleep, which also deprives one of the use of reason but in a natural manner.

Drug use gives an illicit means of escape. Besides being a sin, it also manifests an immaturity on the part of the user. Through an act of violence against himself, he escapes from the responsibility of decision making and control in his life. When this deprivation is complete, e.g., actions totally contrary to normal behavior, incapability of distinguishing between good and evil, etc., it is a grave sin. “In vino veritas,” said the Romans, not without reason. Any state short of complete drunkenness, without sufficient reason, is of itself venially sinful, but even in this case it may be a mortal sin if it causes scandal, injury to health, harm to one’s family, etc. It is important also to note that a man is responsible for all the sinful actions committed while intoxicated which he had, or ought to have, foreseen.

According to Jone-Adelman in Moral Theology, the use of drugs in small quantities and only occasionally is a venial sin if done without sufficient reason. This could be the case, for example, with sleeping pills. Obviously, deprivation of the use of reason through narcotics is to be judged as alcohol. The use of most drugs is complicated by the fact that they are illegal. This also signifies the will of the user to break the law, an offense against social justice. This compounds the sin. The speed with which a drug alters one’s consciousness also aggravates its use. This rapidity risks a greater potential to deprive oneself of the use of reason and thus to pass on to stronger intoxicants for increased effect. Therefore, adding to the violation of the virtue of justice, the grave scandal caused, the grave danger of addiction, and the stronger consciousness-altering ability of marijuana, it is difficult to excuse one of mortal sin. Moreover, experience tells us that its use is frequently an occasion of mortal sin, especially sins of the flesh and the use of narcotic drugs. But to willingly and knowingly place oneself in an unnecessary proximate occasion of mortal sin is to commit a mortal sin. Fr. James Doran, September 1993

I don't believe it is a sin unless it is done to the point where it effects your spirituality and your relationship with God. if on the other hand it can improve your relationship with God it could be considered a virtue.

Ask mommy or daddy.
Ask your priest.
Ask some authority or expert.
Let them tell you what you should and shouldn't do.
Because obviously you are too timid to think for yourself!

If altering your brain chemistry is a sin
Then well coming on a conspiracy website calld Godlikeproductions would be a sin
For it's also a chemical that can take you places in your mind
Make you think different
Make you think of God Jesus Ufos Aliens People Love Peace Happiness
So in essence the man died for all our sins
So you could enjoy the world and basically explore you mind
But don't cross the streamers the line too much
Not to Dark not to Light but a streaming gray river where a purple spiral mixes in a ying a yang
Because the words written in the Book alter you for the same storie are in everything we do

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
First off before anyone reads this! I am a christian and Jesus is my Savior! I am sorry if you don't share my beliefs and i don't mean to offend anybody! Just looking for an answer and if you are not a christian you can still read this and answer! Thank you everyone!

Is smoking marijuana a sin? First off let me tell you a little about myself! I am 22 years old and I love Jesus with all my heart, hes the reason i live and have the urge to continue to live! I am patiently waiting for his return to gather us up to be with him! Over the last 2 years of my life I made a complete U turn, basically I was clubbing 3-4 times a week, having pre-marital sex, getting smashed 3-4 times a week (goes along with the clubbing) you know basically the life that we are all told is the fun and cool life to live! I was born into the church and attended my whole life but never took it seriously at all, Just basically thought o well if this Jesus guy is real then ill just go to church once a week and be ok! I thought i was safe but was really living no better than anybody else and not being an example to others. I started smoking week at 19 years old and would say i smoke about 1-2 joints a day (usually at night cuz it relaxes me and i like to munch out lol) So basically to cut this story short, took a step back at my life and changed it! I started reading the bible for the first time in my life at 20 years old and it changed my life! I felt the spirit of god and it was the greatest feeling ever! I got baptized about 6 months ago and it was great, I always put it off because i was embarrassed of going to the front and getting baptized in front of a church attendance of around 500 people! So basically through this whole experience and even though i have been raised in the church my whole life and knew almost every story in the bible I found my newly found faith and Found Jesus my savior!

I live my life to the best of my ability and have cut off basically everything in my life that was sinful! including the hardest thing Sex! Keep in mind i am in a 4 year relationship with my girlfriend and I wasn't living as a christian for about 3 of those years! so it was very hard to cut the sex out until marriage! It was hard but it felt wrong and i knew i was sinning intentionally!

So to the question! I still smoke weed, i enjoy having a joint before bed and i dont feel like i am sinning when i am doing this at all! God created all things good and i see nothing wrong with marijuana!

pretend the media never existed, and you never heard of marijuana before! If you were to see somebody roll up this plant and smoke it would you look at them and be like o my you sinner! how could you smoke that plant! I see nothing wrong with it as long as you use it properly, the bible states nothing is wrong with it and it doesn't affect my life negative at all!

Nobody can give me a concrete answer and I am always left wondering and praying for god to let me know if this is a sin! please help! any fellow Christians out there with any thoughts on this? thank you!!

!Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
 Quoting: xxterrencexx 2481038

I have never smoked Marijuana but I'll tell you how I feel about it. Most of my friends smoke it. I'd rather be around someone who smokes pot than someone that drinks and I do drink occasionally.

My opinion is smoking Marijuana is not a sin in itself because it is natural. But having said that I would say you are responsible for your actions and if you buy Marijuana from a dealer then you are sinning. The reason is because you are responsible for putting money into the hands of murdering swine. They use your money to arm themselves and kill others over turf. You fund them and you will be held accountable for that sin.

Now if you grow your own then thats another story. You are not funding murderers if you grow your own.

.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2505940

Not all dealers kill and arm themselves, that is a stereotype when it comes to drugs. It's an opinion not a fact. It's better to base your arguments on facts and not opinions because its not a valid argument

Re: Is Smoking Marijuana A Sin? Christian Perspective!
When someone asks is it a sin or give me a chapter and verse they are seeking license and do not understand the spirit of grace.

BTW the word Drunk in the Be not drunk with wine means to not intoxicate oneself because it interferes with the Spirit of God. Certain things were designed before the Comforter came for people to be able to mentally deal with life. Intoxication has never been for priests nor kings and therefore by our adoption not for the born again believer either.

I do not tell you these things to be a weight to you. I tell you these things to alert you to the deception of where your comfort is truly found. Not these fake substitutes of Substance but the Substance of the Living God named the Holy Spirit.

He is the essence of all mankind seeks through substances that intoxicate: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:22-26

True freedom is found in God and His Spirit. There are many who promise liberty but only wish to enslave but don't be surprised by this. We were warned: For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. II Peter 2:18-22

So I beseech you dear brother that you consider the times and what manner of believer you ought to be as an ensample to an unbelieving world, was not your God able to provide you that peace, relaxation, joy etc you were seeking from a bottle or a toke? Did you give Him a chance?
