I've been getting this bad feeling for a while now every time I use my gmail account or even search for things using google. I thought maybe my conspiracy mind was getting the better of me but maybe that feeling was right after all.

Just create a bogus Email that you never use, solely for the purpose of your Google/YT account. Make it an easy password to remember, but nothing too personal. Simple.

keep one browser open for GMAIL, and another browser for searches.

recently after I changed my gmail password neither my android phone nor ipad can access my email.

On my phone I probably just need to update the password. The Ipad however seems to require an application number or something to do with a 2 step process. The kicker is google gmail wants my cell number in order to do this.

I have yet to give in. Right now I can only check email on my computer which isn't a major loss to me anyways.

They would love to sell my phone number i'm sure.

And at the same time Google has removed cache links from the results index and has removed Timeline searching... the two tools that I used the most are gone.

It's WAY easier for them to scrub & hide info without them.

It's called the Patriot Act and they can see whatever the fuck they like because of it, if it's on server in the US.

Once upon a time google and youtube didn't exist then a few smart kids saw the opening and got in there, these corps have become so arrogant that they've forgotten that the world is full of smart kids that are looking for openings, these guys will be dinosaurs in a few years.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not...

But I work in a web agency and EVERY single one of the sites we produce uses google hosted code. Its mainly for analytic data for our customers. If you've ever seen google analytic data and understand that 100% of our sites (and I'm sure its almost 100% of any other agency's sites) use this code... that means the scope of this is so huge I can't think straight! Google can very easily track people's web usage through this analytic code.

It doesnt matter if you are on a google made site or not, if the use google hosted code then they know!

Google has been doing this all along as does Apple, MS and so on. Limit or don't use their services in your first line of defense. If not possible then learn all you can about your device and take FULL control of it, flash it, root it, kernel secure it and spank those apps and daemons who are like little children leaking sensitive info about you to these data collectors without your knowledge.

Don't forget to learn to really disable gps, mic and your cam when necessary cause they are bugged. At this point you will be half way secure and well on your way to freedom. However there is a whole another world of hidden service, exploit and leak potentials within your device that are publically unspoken of and that you will need to discover over time.

Last piece of advice, learn to game the algorithm that is at all times trying to predict who you are and what your next move is.
