In the strict sense you are correct. What you and others who take this path overlook is that all except one of the founding fathers were Christian. In fact, when they were writing the Consitiution and hit a particularly rough spot - Thomas Jefferson suggested that they adjourn and go together for prayer. There are hunderds of examples just as stark found in the well documented actions, words, speeches and writings of those who penned the Constitution.

All men being created equal is a Christian world view - not Islamic, not Jewish. Like it or not, Christian faith and values had a very great deal to do with the founding of our country and was an influence on those who founded it.

We are close to the day when our government no longer views human life as sacred because it is solely created by God. Be careful friend - the day they get that idea totally washed from our thought and laws is the day your life - and mine - are immediately worth no more than they believe we can produce for the "common good" in return for eating.

So, again, confused person states that this country was never meant to be a "christian" nation. That statement is true, as far as it goes. But the fact is always missed that our founding fathers ALL believed in a higher power, a CREATOR, who endowed we the people with our rights. Rights that should never be ascribed to a secular government. The idea of "separation of church and state" that everyone throws out when the subject is raised never came from the Constitution. It came from the Federalist Papers, written after the ratification. Yes, I know, everyone will talk about the "mormons", the "christians", the "jewish people", the whatever. All these names putting the screws to everyone, making the name the product, not the message. This country was started with the idea that all men (using the term to mean all of mankind) are created equal. If men do not or have not lived up to that ideal, including the Founding Fathers, that simply means that we all fall short of the ideal set by our Creator. That does not mean we should throw out the ideal. By and large, if you believe in a Creator, that usually means that you have some sort of moral code, which, if adhered to, will guide you through life. I think that was what the Founding Fathers wanted, a moral country. Instead, we have allowed the dilution of our moral codes to spread to every aspect of life, and we are all the poorer for it. That code was well understood by the people of that time, so they did not include it in their business dealings, of which the Constitution certainly was. If you look at all of the papers, letters, and writings of the time, there is no shortage of references to religion.

The story goes that the first pilgrims came here to escape religious persecution - only to start burning their own at the stake in the name of eligion. I never could figure that out. I guess they didn't want to be the persecutees - they wanted to be the persecutors.

Kind of like europe did with jewish people. They said they re-established the nation of Israel so jewish people would have a safe homeland, so they sent the jewish people to palestine and divided up the land. Then they act like they are doing God a favor and
"blessing" Israel, so they can be blessed on Gods promise.

They clearly know that God curses a people that divides his land, and they didn't send the jewish people to israel as a favor to God so the jewish people could be safe. There was no threat anymore, the war was over and Hitler was dead. The brits sent the jewish people to palestine because they didn't want them in europe. They took them out of a newly safe situation, and sent them to palestine to be in peril again. Then they expect God to bless them because they "say" Bless israel.

Christianity is so absurd. No wonder so many people just turn to atheism. If christianity is the best thing out there, it s a sad state of affairs for mankind.
