Anonymous Coward User ID: 15457152 United States 05/04/2012 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | April has set a record for job layoffs... My contract prematurely ended in April as an expected work order from the state did not come thru. Initially, the first week I found interest in my resume but the following week I was told that employers had either hired iterally or postponed hiring. However, now in May it seems to have picked up again. I'm in Oregon. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 15529361 United States 05/04/2012 04:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wolf Blitzer on CNN just said that Obama claims to have created 4 million jobs since 2009 when the job loss was at 4,595,000 lost jobs when he took office. Wolf says that we only need to gain 95,000 jobs a month until November to get all the jobs back that were lost when Obama became president in January 2009. With that good news, everything is looking hunky dory, so commence with the spending again. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1579668 We have an indian casino about 3 miles from our house and every time I go in there the place is absolutely packed to the max - you can't find an empty machine or table anywhere. There are other casinos in the area as well and they are always crowded. If the economy is so bad, you would never know it, as there are thousands of people around here that have enough disposable income to throw it away gambling. That is called welfare roulette. Git yo check, maybe double it |

Even then, there are anywhere from 10-300 applicants for every opening. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2926765 Yeah, selected area you got no chance. Take Detroit, if some reason you live there, finding any valuable employment is almost impossible. |

I'm a software engineer who has worked in the Silicon Valley for most of the past decade. I agree that there is plenty of work there. The problem is that the jobs you are offering are for the most part contracts with no benefits. I think most folks who live in the Bay Area would agree that $110K plus benefits might buy a lower middle class existence for a small family. Without healthcare coverage, $110K will quickly bankrupt the average family residing in the area. No offense, but I truly believe that headhunters are a serious detriment to our collective well being as society. |
