I have never understood this mentality. The same kind of thing happened at work. We could wear shorts to work as long as they weren't tattered or too short, basically they needed to be respectable. This was the standard practice for 5- - 6 years. Well some girl comes in looking hot in her short shorts, they sent her home but the next day they sent out a memo "SHORTS ARE NO NOT ACCEPTABLE".
