Update: We drove back from Dearborn to Auburn Hills this afternoon, the sulfur smell was present again beginning in almost the exact same location on I75 and it was very strong, stinging our eyes, it lasted all the way into AH. My sons just got home and they also stated immediately that it was present in the Shelby Twp area westward to AH and it was also very strong. No weird activity with the ants again but we did notice a lack of birds, we live right next to a large pond, always geese, ducks and birds there, today dead silence. Probably nothing but it was noticeable and eerie none the less. I spoke with Scott Owen, he hasn't had time to dig in to deep yet so we're talking again in a day or two. In the mean time, tomorrow we're going to call the USGS to find out if there are any coal or shale fires in the area and if there isn't we're going to request them to send out investigators. We're going to tape the conversation and upload a vid to YT with the call so all can hear. |

They probably just drove by the marathon refinery, always smells like oil and sulfur. Some days are worse than others. I drive by it regularly on i75 when heading down to ohio for business, nothing new just probably winds blowing a different direction on a particularly smelly day. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17820183 I've been making that drive north and south on 75 just about every day for the last 7yrs solid, never smelled this, |

If you have only been driving this stretch for 20 years, this would be my guess. A west wind would push the smell over to Canada on most days… |

I live in Mississippi close to Jackson and have noticed in the last couple of weeks that things have been a little strange. I have been seeing something in my security cameras what appears to be heavy rain, but when I go outside no rain. Trying to make since of it all, I asked myself, is it dew? I did not feel that moisture outside either, But who knows. Maybe you guys can help me to figure this one out. Here are the two videos I have taken within the last two weeks. I will keep a watch out and follow up with anything I notice....... Ok...... today, coming back, we noticed the smell south of Detroit, south of Toledo AND south of Dayton...... hmm....... we have never noticed this smell along 75 before...... Love is like light. Just checked the Ann Arbor Seismograph against Grayling, Conover Wisconsin, and State Center, Iowa. The Ann Arbor seismometer is set 3-4 times too sensitive compared the other sites. For the 2012081900 graphs at 8:30 all the stations show the Washington 5.5 earthquake. It is obvious that the Ann Arbor station is overly sensitive. I've been driving around central and SW Wisconsin in the last week. Three different times I got whiffs of something that smelled almost like rotting methane. I don't know how else to describe it.....it was a rotten egg smell to it, but it was more organic, somehow, if that makes sense? I smelled it coming in our windows last evening, also. We are located about an hour from Clintonville. |

OP, live much further north of you, north of I69. Nothing that smelled odd, but we've had frogs trying to occupy our deck containers. Odd since we have a large pond less than 200 feet away from the house. Had to move one out this pm. Quoting: 4Evergirl Saw a deer yesterday, but only one. Saw a bunch last week off I69. Even with all the rain of recent ponds on a local golf course are almost nonexistent. I wonder if anyone has been down to the salt mines under Detroit. Might be a good place to plant a USGS monitor. I started researching salt domes and salt mines last year when the strange sounds started across the globe. I found that every place that reported these strange sounds had a nearby salt mine or natural dome. Most all of these places had mines that were active. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Over time, the layer of salt is covered with deposited sediment, becoming buried under an increasingly large overburden. The overlying sediment will undergo compaction, causing an increase in density and therefore a decrease in buoyancy. Unlike clastics, pressure has a significantly smaller effect on the density of salt due to its crystal structure and this eventually leads to it becoming more buoyant than the sediment above it. The ductility of salt initially allows it to plastically deform and flow laterally, decoupling the overlying sediment from the underlying sediment. Since the salt has a larger buoyancy than the sediment above - and if a significant faulting event affects the lower surface of the salt - it can be enough to cause the salt to begin to flow vertically, forming a salt pillow [2]. The vertical growth of these salt pillows creates pressure on the upward surface, causing extension and faulting. If I am duplicating a link, my apologies - this is an old article but is all the history of the salt mine under detroit.: [link to apps.detnews.com] It would take a long time to properly research this subject. However, you can find a lot of useful information with a quick google search but you can easily find that Sulfur is commonly in the "caprock" of salt domes/mines. |

Quoting: Deb1964 [link to s1263.photobucket.com] [link to s1263.photobucket.com] Deb, much of the 'steam' releases and 'harmless' gas released from fracking - collection stations is anything but harmless. You would know the process itself uses low level radioactive elements, and the strata itself contains sealed pockets of radioactive elements. Fracking the strata releases these elements and they are able to freely travel through layers, in to aquifers, into underground water, into salt domes, and ultimately, in to the air. I think what your camera's are picking up is low level radiation. The same effect can be seen when standing behind a shield at an Xray centre when the rays are released. Quite possibly a similar effect is being seen on your cameras? You have had fracking near by? This has been building for quite some time. And why? maximise profits because the physical country is stuffed as a result of this practice. The fracking, I think will soon become super-fracking, when all the fracked stratas start to link up, and become uncontrolled, leading to open flowing of gasses, water, oil etc. Explosive gasses, butane, oil etc, stored in vacated salt domes probably wont react well when coming in contact with magma in the fault zones. Maybe this is all a deliberate act? Fast becoming the only sane way of looking at all the insane things they are doing. |
