There isnt an actual order for 165 mill you numpty, its an estimate. This is atndard procedure in a contract that if needed in time of war that they are capable of supplying the higher amount. This is standard across any civi - military arms contract. It clearly states in what you linked "Minimum and Maximum Tresholds", and you even spelt that wrong buddy. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22333253 223 remington : [link to www.fbo.gov (secure)] .223 Remington Caliber SD (62 grain) Solicitation Number: HSCEMS-12-R-00015 Agency: Department of Homeland Security Office: Immigration & Customs Enforcement From the document : [link to www.fbo.gov (secure)] Minimum and Maximum Tresholds: The contract or contracts for .223 Remington Caliber SD awarded under this solicitation will have a base period of one year, plus four one-year options. The guaranteed minimum of any contract awarded is 10,000 rounds and is applicable to the base year only. The estimated amount over the 5 year duration of the contract will be 165,000,000 rounds. 165 million round over 5 years = 33 million round/year... or half the consumption of the US army in a war zone (Iraq)... and that is just .223... And pepper spray.. [link to www.fbo.gov (secure)] 13--PEPPER SPRAY Solicitation Number: PR20071101 Agency: Department of Homeland Security Office: Customs and Border Protection Location: Procurement Directorate - DC Nothing is going on folks... NOTHING... GOT IT??? This is just their way of having gun control. What use are out guns if they continue to buy up all the ammo? Then they never took away our right to have guns. We just can't use them. |

Quoting: Schlotzsky I pride my self in being a good shooter. The shooter is moving, the target is moving, fully automatic and high adrenaline do not make for clean one-shot kills. I have never tried this type of shooting but could imagine a low shot-to-kill ratio. Exactly, like the time I shot the Haitian Gang Banger, I waiting till he reached for the top of the wall to scale over it and run, once his hand was on top, he was "Fully Committed" to get over the wall and running to safety.... (Not firinf back at Me). His heart burst out the front of his chest cavity and onto the wall and he slid down, leave a huge blood trail. He can no longer shoot his M1 Garand at our Convoys. His bullet hit 3 feet from me on the passenger front. ;-) |

That IS what you're saying, right? And by "local government", you mean your'e the shit-shoveler on Mackinac Island. I only believe half of what I read and even half of that is bullshit. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 22013245 United States 08/21/2012 10:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I thought the DHS would be using the military M4 and not the AR15 that way they could use miltary/ NATO spec ammo which is plentiful. Quoting: Nailer45 22229932 Is the DHS trying to drive up ammo prices by causing a shortage or is it prepping for something bigger? .223 and 5.56 are virtually the same chamber, my AR shoots both, and more than likely, service weapons do too. .223 is a bit cheaper though for some reason... |

AdHocBOHICA User ID: 19723065 United States 08/21/2012 10:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I guess theres no gun nutz on yet... 62grain are penatrator rounds! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16136779 (Wiki snip) "The 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge with the standard 62 gr. steel core bullets (NATO: SS109; U.S.: M855) will penetrate approximately 15 to 20 in (38 to 51 cm) into soft tissue in ideal circumstances. As with all spitzer shaped projectiles it is prone to yaw in soft tissue. However, at impact velocities above roughly 2,500 ft/s (760 m/s), it may yaw and then fragment at the cannelure (the crimping groove around the cylinder of the bullet).[15] These fragments can disperse through flesh and bone, inflicting additional internal injuries." So um yeah... thats what they are refering to. Funny tho... the same ones I buy! :) Game on bitchezzzzz Not necessarily correct, they could be barrier rounds. [link to www.google.com (secure)] One in the same.. penetrating, barrier penetrating, penetraters, potato... patato If your a shooter.......understand this, 223 or 5.56 Barrier rounds are far superior to any other loading including the green tip 5.56 "penetrater" loading's if engaging an individual through glass or car doors etc....... totally different animal. Apples and watermelons would be a better analogy. “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” ~Seneca PS: I Stole this from another member.... ;) |
