LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THE LAKE TANGIPAHOA DAM IS EXPECTED TO FAIL. SEVERE FLOODING IS EXPECTED DOWNSTREAM ALONG THE TANGIPAHOA RIVER FROM WEST OF THE MCCOMB AIRPORT AND MAGNOLIA TO OSYKA. Quite the opposite actually. Dry ground doesn't soak up water as fast as moist ground. It's like when you put a dry rag under the faucet. It beads up at first. Deserts are the same...flash floods happen at super speed in the desert. Initially, it will be very bad if they don't get some light rain to dampen things up before hand. |
