We are so very happy to see all of you here at our 2012 international conference. This is the eighth international conference hosted by UAI. In 2009 we were in Spain; in 2006 we were in Australia; in 2004 we were in Chicago; 2002 was France; 2000 was New York City; 1998 was in Helsinki, Finland, and 1996 was in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, and today we are here in beautiful Medellin, Colombia.

This thread is for the purpose of helping people becoming interested in this great book to start their exploration without wading thru it. The Urantia Book was given to this planet around 1934 and finally published in 1955. Those who read the Bible know that God promised his word in the end times. This is his promised word. it is essentially an book describing God and the higher realms that are labeled heaven, and shows how these realms are governed. It provides a look at this history of OUR planet, whose name is Urantia. And also provides the story of the involvement of the higher government in this world. The last 1/3 of the book covers the life of the being called Jesus Christ by Christians.

What makes UB special over the Bible?

Because i'm of french language i suggest you to ask someone at the Urantia Fondation: [link to www.urantia.org]

But in my own words i say that i was a bible reader for around thirty years before i read the Urantia book objectively
and for me what makes the UB over the Bible is that it is modern and from the first page to the end it is as one book, not broke in many peices like in the bible. We should read it preferably all to have the big picture of God the Father in Paradise to here on Urantia. The last part is The Life and teachings of Jesus in modern phrases and more complete than in the New Testament.

The Gosple of Jesus was God is your Father who loves you (everyone, not only the jewish people) and because of that we are all brothers and sisters.

URANTIA BOOK FORUM GUIDELINES (15 March 2007)


PURPOSE

The Urantia Book Forum was created for study, discussion and dissemination of the teachings of The Urantia Book, and to foster contact between readers. The Forum is also intended to be an information resource for UAI activities and projects. Some Forum categories are open to the public, and some are open only to members of Urantia Association International (UAI). UAI member-subscribers wanting access to the private section of the Urantia Book Forum should contact the forum moderator or admin (see above). Please include your real full name and association membership.

Forum moderators affirm the obvious need to maintain the utmost in responsible, on-topic, and cordial communication among subscribers for the mutual benefit of all. We sincerely hope that all that transpires on the Urantia Book Forum will clearly relate to and be reflective of the overall caliber and tone of The Urantia Book.


RULES

1. Civility. Dialogue is expected to be civil and respectful. Profanity is not permitted. Since we are communicating with diverse people of different cultural backgrounds, civility can be subjective and a common standard for civility may be difficult to define. However, if each forum member acts as a son or daughter of God, he/she will not present a problem to the forum moderators.

2. Personal attacks. Attacks upon the character, personality, heritage, beliefs, motives, or actions of any persons are unacceptable.

3. Group attacks. Attacks upon the purposes, policies, plans or procedures of any group or organization are unacceptable.

4. Disallowed Material. Posting of material unrelated to the PURPOSE of the Forum is not permitted. Humorous anecdotes (in good taste) and poetry are allowed. Petitions for donations to a group or a person not in immediate danger and/or advertising of products are not permitted.

5. Material not in The Urantia Book. Material not found in The Urantia Book, but relevant to the topic under consideration, may be quoted. Human authorship is assumed and referencing should include the published source where the quote may be found in context.

Posting of any content which implies direct or explicit communication with celestials or former mortals; or, which presumes to contain exact knowledge about the survival potential or the post-mortal status of specific individuals; or, which presents specific factual information concerning extra-terrestrial or spiritual realms which cannot be referenced in The Urantia Book, is not allowed.

Presenting examples of such activities and materials is permitted exclusively for the purposes of example pursuant to discussion of the effect that such materials, expressions and/or associated individuals, groups and organizations may have on matters related to the Fifth Epochal Revelation.

6. Proselytizing. Personal experiences and information from sources other than The Urantia Book may be presented, provided they are presented in the spirit of study and not with the intent--explicit OR implicit--to convert list members to a particular practice or belief system. This prohibition includes church type sermons and channeled experiences.

7. Ditto Posts. There is a limit to the number of messages allowed per day. Short posts that echo sentiments of agreement/kudos without adding substance thereto are discouraged. Forum members are asked to consider a private acknowledgement to a fellow member. Brief posts that clarify or add ideas and information to a previous post are encouraged!

8. Long posts. It is recommended, as a courtesy to others, that forum members endeavor to constrain the length of their posts to one or two thousand words in deference to those who would like to know the points being made but are limited by time, equipment, or inclination. Warnings will not be issued for posts exceeding the recommended courtesy limit.

9. Re-posting. Posting for non-members or suspended members is not allowed.


PROCEDURES

By subscribing to the forum, each forum member agrees to abide by the guidelines and rules of the forum. If you are uncertain about a potential violation, get clearance from a Moderator [email protected] in advance, and it is likely to reduce the number of surprise warnings.

1. For a first violation in any six month period, unless the violation is blatant, the violator shall be issued a reminder OR warning based upon the type of infraction.

2. For the second violation or the first blatant violation in any six month period the violator shall be suspended for one month.

3. A third violation or a second blatant violation within any six month period shall result in a six month suspension.

4. The fact that a warning has been issued to a specific person, along with the reason therefore, may be made public on the forum. A private reminder will be sent directly to that forum member without public notice.

5. If a forum member is suspended for one month, he/she is automatically reinstated 30 days later. If a forum member is suspended for six months, he or she must request to be reinstated. UAI Policy Statement concerning the Channeling Phenomenon

Within certain groups of people reading The Urantia Book, there has developed a
phenomenon labeled "channelling" or the "Teaching Mission." Advocates of this
phenomenon claim to be in touch with superhuman personalities, who sometimes have names taken from The Urantia Book.

While UAI neither endorses, promotes, nor denies any individual's personal
experiences, we must assure readers that neither UAI nor The Urantia Book has any
connection with this phenomenon.

UAI has taken great care over the years to ensure that The Urantia Book is not publicly identified with cultic, psychic, or occult groups and phenomena.

The UAI, as an organization, does not sanction channelling activities at UAI sponsored functions, seminars, conferences or internet discussion groups.

We believe that the Urantia Book's teachings should be unencumbered by public
alliance with either New Age beliefs or traditional religions.

An Open Letter to the Urantia Community
Following Michael's Plan
January 9, 2008

Michael has a plan for the establishment and progress of this revelation on our world. To better understand what Michael would have us do as part of this plan, we came together this last summer in a cooperative effort to discover this better understanding. Following the sound advice of the book, we considered the origins and histories of the organizations created to establish and disseminate this revelation – so that we might better understand their potential destinies as part of this plan. We explored the available historical records, as well as what is in The Urantia Book. As we considered all of this information on the role of these organizations, we found ourselves referring repeatedly to “Michael’s Plan.” It is for this reason, and with this meaning, that we use the phrase “Michael’s Plan.”

The immediate purpose of The Urantia Book is “to expand cosmic consciousness and enhance spiritual perception.” (Pg1.2, P0:0.2) The book is also part of a larger, planetary purpose to uplift mankind. It expands upon previous epochal revelations to prepare the way for future revelations of truth, including Michael, his Sons, and other Paradise Sons. The Urantia organizations have crucial roles to play within this larger context of illuminating the past and preparing man for a future revelation from the Father.

Michael, our Sovereign Creator Son, has given to our community the task of firmly establishing The Urantia Book as an authoritative revelation of God upon this world. Part of this inaugural founding of epochal revelation is the physical dissemination of the text and the social dissemination of its teachings. Michael, through the agency of his Sons, approved the creation of two human organizations to establish and promote this revelation, which fosters both personal God-consciousness and the social awareness of Supreme cosmic citizenship. The revelatory commission provided guidance and instructions on the nature, roles, and responsibilities of these two organizations – Urantia Foundation and Urantia Brotherhood. We have come to refer to this original organizational design created under this guidance as Michael’s Plan.

In comparing this original organizational design with our history over more than half a century, there are several critical areas in which the organizations have progressed in ways which are inharmonious with this original design. These progressive historical trends bring into serious question the potential destinies of the organizations. We are following a course which is significantly different from that which higher guidance advises, with consequences which we can somewhat foresee. We are not following the course of Michael’s Plan. It is to the real and present danger of continuing on our current course that this letter and its attachments are addressed.

Attached is a statement of our shared purpose and a paper entitled, “Following Michael’s Plan.” The paper considers the guidance given by the revelatory commission and the book, its original implementation, our historical divergence from this advice, and the enduring spiritual principles discernible in this guidance. We hope that this will provide a more comprehensive framework within which our community can begin to consider decisions and actions to bring us into better harmony with Michael’s Plan.

Because this is an open letter to the whole of the Urantia community, this paper has also been placed upon its own website, www.michaelsplan.org along with relevant supporting documents. We invite you to visit this unaffiliated website, consider the evidence for yourself, and join us by adding your name to those who support following Michael’s Plan.

About Urantia Book Internet School

One of the duties of Urantia Foundation is to provide means and methods to disseminate the teachings of The Urantia Book worldwide. Many readers have expressed a need for a place where they could join and study The Urantia Book with experienced, long time readers. This in turn leads to the development of teachers and leaders.

The Urantia Book Internet School was created as a means to help students from all over the world study The Urantia Book in an internet setting that frees the students from the constraints of distance, timetables, and physical presence. Courses are given in small classes under the guidance of a trained and experienced teacher/facilitator using the "Questions and Response" technique. The Urantia Book Internet School is designed to help the student to:

develop a progressive approach to difficult concepts;
enlarge his or her comprehension by going deeper into the revelation;
learn teamwork and the fostering of good will, and
develop methods for presentation and dissemination of the teachings.

It is not the purpose of UBIS to interpret the truths and teachings in The Urantia Book in a dogmatic way. Since the teachings of The Urantia Book were presented in written form every person can have a their own first-hand experience with the material. The Internet School's purpose is to provide tools to assist each student in experiencing the teachings first hand and to promote, improve and expand his/her comprehension of the material through a non-interpretive, non-invasive, and non-aggressive pedagogy.

The Urantia Book Internet School is an Educatonal/Outreach program of the Urantia Foundation. It operates through the efforts of a volunteer group of twelve members who serve as the UBIS Board of Directors, and it functions through the services of its companion group of Teacher/Facilitators. The program was initiated by the Foundation in 1999, and through learning and experiential growth now serves the readership around the world.

Operationally, the UBIS is organized with specific functions assigned to its various members, such as the Teacher Training class, the Course Review Committee, the Mentor Program, the Curriculum Committee, the Course Archives/data/Library of Courses Coordinator, Semester Planning Coordinator and the Student Correspondence/Outreach Committee. Above all, the most important and vital function is that of the dedicated Teacher/Facilitators who prepare and present the courses.

The Urantia Book is awesome. All "Groups" that try to spawn from the book are a big Joke. This is clear because if they were to actually understand what is written in the book they'd realize how much of a joke it was to make a group based around the book.

If you knew what you were talking about you'd understand how what you said was actually suported within the Urantia papers.
