I don't believe we want to stay in central asia, and it doesn't seem like we can afford to, but leaving to deal with north africa and the rest of the middle east, while china gets to reinforce her eastern borders, and control in that region would be appealing and worth the heavy investment from China, and at first, working with the West and not in opposition.
