It's no exaggeration to say that the business model of America's low-wage employers depends on a generous government safety net, since without that net many of their workers would not be able to survive. So all of us are subsidizing the wealthy owners and executives of Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and Target. Alas, few of us seem to realize this.

All of us are hurt, too, by the way that the low-wage model drags down economic growth. If you give a low-wage worker higher wages, they immediately pump that money back into the economy through more spending. But if you give a CEO another few million dollars in compensation, he'll most likely just plow that money into his stock portfolio or other savings vehicles, which doesn't do much for the economy since capital is cheap right now and customers are scarce.

If we want an economy with robust consumer demand, workers need to a bigger slice of the pie. Business leaders once understood that elementary fact.

Minimum wage keeps many people out of the work force due to no skills. This keeps them on government aid the rest of their life. Free market is the way to go not government intervention which ends up causing us to outsource jobs, and use illegal aliens. Good try though.

You have to many wealthy people " aka" multi-million/billionaires. Business income to be maintained within a business , not personal profit.
All Profits should remain in a business account , with stiff penalty's for anyone taking out over 500 thousand every 5 years for personal accounts.

You all are missing the point why all these programs were created in the first place. The programs create no inflation because the dollars used to fund them are just recycled dollars gained and re-distributed from taxes. Employment on the other hand creates massive inflation because when you have Production/Investment/Output you utilize the fractional lending system (how the monetary system works and how dollars are created) and creates more money from nothing faster (That means for every dollar saved in a bank (from production) that bank lends out $9 dollars created out of thin air and it is put on their balance sheet as a receivable (asset).
You must realize you cannot have this inflation domestically (employment) while we are distributing freshly printed dollars to the rest of the world through the reserve currency system while trying to print the worlds banks back into solvency. The combined inflation of employment domestically and the printing of money would overwhelm the system with inflation and kill the dollar ahead of schedule. Why do you think "Green" energies or even our domestic over abundance of NG is never utilized and made to fail?

You guessed it! To save the Reserve/Petrodollar status of the U.S.Dollar and it's use worldwide. Rather simple really!

Corporations have always tried to lower the cost of labor to as close to zero as they can get. That's why they have moved most manufacturing overseas where labor is dirt cheap, with no health benefits, or environmental regulations or pensions.

That's where an unregulated free market gets you: a polluted, toxic hell on earth with no middle class, just the super rich and the peasant class. Is that the world we want to live in? And with no middle class, who's going to buy the cars and washing machines and iPhones? No one.

So in the end, it's not even in the corporations interest to underpay their labor force or to pollute the planet. But they don't see the big picture.
