I thought the machine vote was supposed to be backed up by a paper ballot in all states now? Does anyone know?

If you want to be a millionaire, buy generic touch screen machines on the market and develop an open source voting program, voila, instant credibility and push the campaign that the proprietary ones are both easily hacked and have no true verification method.

Also, add a paper receipt just like the self serve check-out machines so the voter sees and has proof of their vote. Print 2, one for the voter and another goes into the bin and it gets checked against the electronic version. Generate a random number for each receipt and the person can go online and verify their vote was counted as shown on their copy.

I like the voter ID requirement, we don't want ineligible people voting, or people voting more than once.

I'd like to see paper ballots or some sort of paper trail in every state though. Although that is a state level decision.

Chavez lost the exit polls in Venezuela, won the official result in the election. And their system is more verifiable than ours from what I've read. Hmmmm...

there is only one way.

a public database of coded registered voters anyone can check results against on a public site, with real time vote entry. it would not be that difficult to implement.



we have a system where the public can see total votes compared to total registered voters, but both numbers are supplied by the electoral commission.
