Totally serious question. How hard can it be? If we don't like where things are going with this whole entire internet, why not invent and use a new one? It's not only likely, but entirely probable that I'm missing something absolutely crucial here. Regardless, does anyone see where I'm going with this? Honestly? Or at least significantly improve what we already have. I agree with you....the system is flawed. :infnty: :ihavgsbmp: |

It would end up being like compartmentalization. I love that I can go on the internet and find different ideas and concepts than the one's I am used to. If there were more than one internet, everything would suddenly become part of a genre. Saptaparna ~ Seven-leaves, sevenfold; the man-plant, sevenfold man, seven-principled human being. ~ Spinning infinity. The wheel is spinning me and it's never ending. ~ What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of of your plays? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23793796 United States 11/03/2012 09:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Really there isn't anything the FCC can't claim dominion over. If they decide to control the internet, really, you'll have no choice but to comply. There will be some attempts to create independent networks but nothing that will ever come close to being "the internet" There is the deep web, that many assume is an alternative, but lol, it is more of a trap than anything else. Bow down before your PTB and accept their rule. That is ultimately all you can do. Until then, enjoy the little freedom you have now. :P |
Anonymous Coward 11/03/2012 09:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So then essentially the internet is a limited thing and won't even be around for too much longer in the way we all know and love it probably. Basically you're all suggesting we're just gonna be like okay, well then, no more internet for us... And then just have no fucking internet? Think about what the INTERNET IS. It's just advanced communication... Like I said, it should be easy to accomplish with all the brilliant minds out there. It doesn't even seem like a big deal, it just seems obvious, IMHO. I view it on par with making a new iPhone or some shit. |

Oh I don't doubt for one second that there are many brilliant minds out there that can conceive a completely new, more highly advanced communication system. But developing it is another issue. Even if someone had the all the necessary means to develop a new internet system, tptb would find some way to sabatage their work. :infnty: :ihavgsbmp: |

Eventually there will be NO anonymity at all on the internet... Believe me, they can do this and implement it and eventually will. The internet will become a new cyber world where you are responsible and identifiable with everything you do online (always) Blogs and forums will have clear guidelines and content controls and regulations (enforceable) Advertising and ad revenues will also be regulated and controlled.. They can literally starve a blog/site/form out of business. These are just a few of the things in the works now... You'll still have the internet, but it may be so regulated that you may not want it. We'll see... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1471245 United States 11/03/2012 10:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are right MO. But the Internet as we know it all easy and the such is like trademarked. A new Internet would be a lot different in the sense that it could not operate the way the current one does. It would have to completely change format to not break any laws. |

Honestly? a new internet needs to be based on another approach to information, communication. and you not need to erase the old one to achieve this. the tools are there. facebook or google might have achieved it, but they used the same old approach to it. because of that the result is the same ratio of junk/noise to meaningful content. the first wave of internet which is still in place was oriented on storing every piece of information, irrelevant of its usefulness. now that we have this huge pile of shit with all the gems of the world hidden in it, maybe it's time for some cleaning |

Does not the government have intranet? Seems like private enterprise could have something similar. I remember a few years back playing poker on an "underground" poker site. By that it was a non internet location but on the computer. We used ICQ to instant message too. GLP could set it up maybe where we could keep in touch if the kill switch is activated. But since the government controls all the bandwidths would an off shore location for transmission be needed. To be sure I am showing my ignorance about now. Behind every myth lies a mystery, and every legend holds an echo of the truth …… Que Sera Sera "For not by numbers of men nor by measure of body but by valor of soul is war decided" Bilisarius " At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe. We are in a new phase of a very old war." Gates of Vienna. "May we smite our enemies to the darkest chamber of hell, for we wish only to live in peace, and they desire only to put their boot upon our neck." |

Undoubtedly because he deals with the nuts and bolts issues of building networks on a daily basis, and thus has little time for actually gathering heretofore unobtainable information from the Internet, he was unable to understand what I was trying to say. For that reason, I decided not to get into what led me to this new view of the Internet, but actually it could be called the mother of all "conspiracy theories," i.e., that people many thousands of years ago were telepathic, and that human language was created to divide and conquer the human race. I have absolutely no idea if this theory--well, actually a hypothesis or a contention--is true, but it led me to start thinking about what human life would be like if we didn't have to actually verbalize our thoughts and translate them across the arbitrary barriers we call "natural languages."
