Pistol for the wife?
I would like to buy a pistol and a handgun training course for my wife for Christmas... I'm not a big gun guy, don't own any handguns, only been hunting a few times... can you guys give me some good recommendations on the perfect handgun for a lady?

A glock or XD sub-compact 9mm

I am a 1911 guy myself, but my wife's loves her XD 9mm subcompact, and I sleep well knowing it will function when she pulls the trigger.

.38 ultralight is my wifes fav carry. however she should learn on a semi auto and take the course with a semi. in my state if you take the test with a revolver that is all you can carry. If you take it with a semi you can carry both. so a .38 ultra light and a 9mm in sub compact are great choices.

Too heavy for a woman to use. Yes, Hi-Points function. But are probably the most uncomfortable firearm ever made.

That is what my wife likes, too. She doesn't feel confident enough that she can reliably rack the slide of a semi-auto pistol yet. She likes the simplicity of the revolver. Point and squeeze.

Smith & wesson 38 special can shoot through the leather of the purse it's in.

No semi can do that without the potential of a jam from the purse liner.

Need I mention the DEMS are trying to push through the semi auto ban again? Invest in a revolver.

Hallow point .22 should be fine. Just make sure to point at the testicles, heart, or eyes repeatedly.

I have a .38 S & W Special Model 642 and I love it. I have very small hands and the fit is perfect for me. I also have a Bersa Thunder .380. However, I love my revolver. I highly recommend it.

Re: Pistol for the wife?
one main advantage of a revolver is point and squeeze. if its loaded its always ready and much easier for accurate follow up shots. granted with a semi you get more ammo and faster reloads. take her to a shop that has a range and let her see what she likes. btw we keep nylon tipped hollows in both
