Anonymous Coward User ID: 27382994 Germany 11/09/2012 01:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has it begun? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24061376 Officials in New York are reportedly eyeing a recently-closed prison as temporary housing for people displaced by superstorm Sandy and this week's nor'easter. The New York Post reports that state officials are considering the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility on Staten Island to feed and house as many as 900 victims with nowhere else to turn. Read more: [link to www.myfoxdc.com] It's a warm safe place to be during a brutal storm where people have no where else to go. FEMA abandoned them. It's a great idea and people want to make this into some kind of conspiracy. The real conspiracy would be: let the residents die of exposure and lack of food and water. I'm thankful that these people will have a warm safe place to go, whether it be a prison or not. Yes!!! It's great: Okkkaaayyy...that was creepier than I expected! Ye think that´s scary? Wait till it´s the real thing! How much more obvious can it get? They aren´t even trying to hide it anymore. I bet even if they slapped ankle chains on these people- everyone else would say something stupid like, "It´s probably for there own protection". |

IT HAS TO DO WITH AVAILABILTY. BETTER TO HAVE A ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD AND HEAT THAN SITTING IN THE STREETS. ONE HAS TO MAKE USE OF WHAT IS AVAILABLE IN THE AREA SINCE FOLKS DONT SEEM PRONE TO GO ELSEWHERE. IN A CRISIS LIKE THIS, IT TAKES TIME FOR FEMA OR THE OTHER AGENCIES TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. SO THEY DO WHAT THEY CAN IN THE MOMENT. WHERE IS THE GRATITUDE? JUST BECAUSE WE LIVE IN AMERICA DOESN'T MEAN WE ARE ABOVE LIVING IN TENT CITIES LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27140202 it's not like there are millions upon millions of empty foreclosed homes all over the country... wait, that won't work what was i thinking? those homes are "private" property that would be socialism because they're bank property and it's not like we gave the banks trillions or anything... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27304459 United States 11/09/2012 01:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is vastly better than "Camp Freedom" in NJ. 3 hots and a cot in a heated sanitary building is exactly what displaced people need -- not what they want, but it's just right for a shelter. Bloomberg was absolutely right to prevent Obama from going into NYC. The contrast is stark, not because FEMA is useless, but because apparently it is vicious. |

Actually now the Fed substantially owns a lot of them and may have title in hand for some of them. So if the Fed is working together with Washington on this -- which is a part of Bernanke's job as I see it -- they could do this. |

Surely if there were any of those mythical camps, now would be the time to unveil them, but not a camp to be found. The Jews thought they were being rescued from the ghettos and taken to resorts to receive free medical care and warm meals because they had no idea these death camps existed and were waiting on them with gas chambers. I highly doubt the Nazis would have shown their hand too soon by unveiling their camps to the locals during a winter storm. Once word gets out, you can't put that genie back in the bottle! But good luck with that. Just be sure you request the luxury passanger car when they tell you to board the train for the "resort". My point, exactly! Ignorance is not bliss. It pays to know your history. Too bad the vast majority of Americans forgot what little valid info their brainwashing education included. agreed; know your history The jews went without protest into the waiting trains Americans would do themselves a service to watch those old movie reels made during WWII |

AFGW User ID: 21140569 United States 11/09/2012 02:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am willing to bet that if you were one of those cold, hungry and displaced persons...you'd be first in line for a nice warm bed and three hot meals and a shower. What if you have young children...would you deny this opportunity just because it's an empty prison? Try putting yourself in their situation as you sit at your desk in your nice warm home with a plate of hot food in front of you while you type disparaging remarks about how TPTB are trying to enslave us. I see it as someone trying (at least trying) to find a humane solution to this terrible plight these people are going through. These families were just like yours...they had homes, mortgages, heat, food, clothes, until last week. Natural disasters happen. And as untrusting of GOVt. that I am personally, I would be the first in line to keep my family warm and fed. It's only the beginning of November people...do you realize how cold New England gets in the winter? |
