Pay Them. I feel your pain but I had to pay my taxes why not you? If they take 1/2 your income you still make more per month than me so I can only suggest pay your taxes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1574911

what if they wanted half your income and I thought it was ok because you made more than me, than it is all ok? I want to pay them and will, but I cannot pay 75% of my income to them.

Moe

a bankruptcy will not get rid of the liability, but may qualify you for penalty abatement, really if you qualify you should go into a status 53, if you want paperwork from me ask Trinity to get ahold of me with your number...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23882465

status 53, don't I make too much money for that?
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

maybe not....that is a huge amount they gave you to pay monthly, I think they just accessed you because you had not been in contact...

this is why you need an attorney, he will pull a master transcript to see the actual amount to the penny how much is trust, penalty and interest...

I do this work every day for the past 5 years, my attorney has done it for 20...

If you can't live comfortably off 4730 a month, you got problems and need to budget.

Re: IRS Wants Me to Pay $4,730 a Month. What should I tell them?
Bankruptcy does not dismiss past IRS or Student loans, those debts are outside that process. The IRS will ALMOST always work with you on repayment, I had a like problem a few years back and my accountant and I worked up a proposal which was less than 20% of our monthly net and the IRS approved it quickly and waved a few penalties. Mt accountant said the IRS wants to be paid but he never had a problem EXCEPT with a few clients who agreed to a plan then didn't meet it and had no good reason for not meeting it. The IRS agents does not get commissions but they have a job, people lie and cheat and bills must be paid. If you don't have a accountant, get one, sit down and throughly review your finances...he/she will draw up a good plan and submit it....this isn't a crisis don't treat it like one and don't ignore it.

Consider it a lesson learned, Pay your taxes.

They will find you and they will get their money.

You should be happy they are giving you wage garnishments.

But seriously get a lawyer.

You CANNOT 'do bankruptcy' for IRS debts....period.

You are screwed.

Just pay them and eat beans and rice.
 Quoting: DonHeau

Yes you can do a chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy. I do not qualify for a chapter 7, but I may a 13.
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

You 'can' but in reality you CAN'T!

Just as in their rules they say you 'can' make an offer in comproomise, but it is NEVER accepted unless you have no ability to pay what they want you to pay.

I had to pay over $11,000/month. My payment period was a little over FIVE years.

It sucked.

Re: IRS Wants Me to Pay $4,730 a Month. What should I tell them?
In my attempts to make things right in my life by being on the up and up with my Shepherds (AKA the US Federal Government), I have been paying my current taxes and also have filed all my previous missed tax returns.

Fast forward to now. A short little chubby IRS agent lady came to my door saying she was just in the neighborhood which I know was a big fat lie. In any event, she has been on my wife and I like white on rice and wants my wife and I to pay the IRS 50% of our income which is $4,730 a Month to pay our back taxes.

I have no problem making payments, but basically this bitch wants my family and I to suffer and live like in poverty until they are paid. Of course I AM not liking her, her proposal or any of it and this goes along the lines of Socialism where our country is at now.

Punish success (making money and a successful business) and reward laziness and dumbness (no job and live on welfare).

You see, if I was not a success, they wouldn't come after me and in addition, I would not have to pay shit in back taxes because I would be collecting welfare and unemployment. What this tells me is that this is the future of our world and that I better get used to this shit. But in the same breathe, I AM not going to allow the lazy or unintelligent just sit on their ass and collect a check.

With Obama, taxes are going up even more and then we have health care on top of it.

In any event, what would you do if you were me and the IRS wanted 50% of your income to pay our back taxes? Is there a better way to deal with this other than bankruptcy?

I hear ya. The bases are covered and I AM not on any of them. 10-4 - $11k? ouch... yes, this is all going to suck for a mighty long time and my only choice is to make more money in which they will take more and thus the cycle never ends.

Money buys freedom or creates chains?

How is life now?

Ignore her.

Call the IRS collections deprtment yourself and voluntarily set up a $100 per month payment plan.

They are obliged by law to take your offer and cease collection activities as long as you keep up the payments.
