Since I'm interested in intelligent debate on the subject, and there seems to be none here I'm off to bed. Opinion and speculation is not very interesting. Proof and solid argument is lacking here. People will always perverse scripture for their own benefit. I suggest you read the scripture and form your own opinion. If you havent read the OT and gospel front to back you really have no grounds to base your opinion on and it just comes off as angry. "You get what you deserve" sounds an awful.lot like "an eye for an eye" so perhaps youre not as removed from what you hate as you might think. This is inaccurate. Perhaps doctrine, yes. But that is separate from.scripture. Read the entire book and you will see your statement is inaccurate.

Why do you draw a distinction between the God of Old and New Testament? It's same God and in the New Testament Jesus makes it explicitly clear that the sadistic SOB hasn't bothered changing any of the laws:

This is inaccurate. The bible is a collection of many peoples interation with god from many walks of life. To disregard one of humanities oldest historical txts is ignorant. I highly doubt anyone here aside from.myself has read the whole bible. I did just to form my own opinion. If you havent done so it is actually a very interesting read. I know many hate god and feel like he has abandoned you. He is not in a secular church. He is in your heart, but you must understand him in order for him to work in yoir life. Yes some ppl have perversed scripture to their own means, the same as any philosophy, like communism, or capitalism, or even satanism. However the scripture has also brought peace and comfort to billions. How can that be bad?

Before i got into bible reading, i read lots of taoism and buddism. Fascinating philosophy. I especially like how the monks built there monastaries to mirror the human chakra. That being said, it didnt work in my own life for me personally. But everyone is different. I really do have to sleep, im giving this thread 5 stars. Ok last post. I believe that for the.most part its evil. That is why each must read and find your personal faith. However, there is still some good that comes from the community of the church. But mostly i believe the diocese is corrupt. Thats why one must read scripture and not neccesarily follow doctrine. For the most part they are irrelivant. The roman catholic church does fees alot of poor ppl. The world is not black and white. And its more than 50 shades of grey lol goodnight

Taoism and Buddhism have historical texts? (I'm sincerely asking because I don't know). I don't consider the bible to be a historical text and that's why I'm asking. I know that Moses didn't part the red sea and that he didn't speak to a burning bush and that millions and millions of Earth-bound species did not survive the great floods by joining him in his 'arc'. For me it's all symbolism, metaphor, parable, allegory for cleverly veiled messages/teachings and not to be interpretted literally unless you want to miss the aforementioned. Lots of astrotheology and lessons about the evolution of the consciousness of man (humans). But as I'm sure you already realize, to each their own. : )
