Equally amusing is someone who thinks religion fills in the same blanks as science does. Even more so when they type it on a computer that science brought them, heating their home with what science brought them, keeping their food cold with what science brought them I could go on but you get the point. I would agree with we are all drifting apart from each other, family is just not what it use to be.But lets be realistic religion was one of the engines that began to drive the wedge between us. We are good they are bad crap, we the believers and them the non believers. The government also plays their role. You are only called ignorant because of the crap that comes out of your mouths like " God put dinosaur bones on the earth to test our faith" and ridiculous statements like that. Science knows that we do better when we are close to one an other. A single ant will perish rather quickly, many ants form an army and thrive. The big difference is that science asks the question's why? how?, ect.
Religion just blindly believes it knows. Therefore making you look stupid. No one knows everything and know one ever will, but if you don't ask the questions, if you don't seek the answers you won't know much. We all need to stop concentrating on our differences and start understanding our likeness without judgment if we are going to move forward on this big blue ball.

Many of the people here on this forum are here for the attention, the sheer shock value. I ignore those people for the most part. All extremists are anything but peaceful, doesn't matter if they have a religion or not. The sad truth is that those that try the hardest to get attention through their shock tactics are not happy people and if they spent all their efforts trying to just make friends and get to know people, there may just be peace in the world someday.

It's not science that takes the place of religion, I think you might be confused. A lot of atheists are former members of some religion. It's the lack of evidence, and the confounding errors, and similarities between all religions that make all religions questionable. Christians have this tendency to pretend that other religions do not exist, that's its only them and atheists that exist in this argument.. or science and Christianity if you will. This is a very immature view of belief systems altogether. So please don't generalize us, or base all of your feelings towards atheists on a few people. I don't judge you people on the guy that spit in my fade last year because he thought I was wrong for arguing my point. The point is, that neither of us can prove anything either way. I'm glad you can experience life with some sort of magic and childlike innocence, that great. I however tend to only believe in the things that I can touch, taste, feel, or see. And sadly there isn't a shred of proof that any of what you believe has or will exist in any capacity. Having said that, there is much more proof to the existence of life existing in the universe, and I'm very curious what those who believe so profoundly will do when this becomes common knowledge...
I truly believe that in 100 years from now, this religion like all other will have died out. It's not a matter of if, its more a matter of when. And I feel like the more we discover how the universe works without god, the less of us that will be so inclined to rely of faith. You're free to believe whatever it is you want...as am I.... I don't get angry about what other people choose to believe and I don't try to tell people how they should raise their children. I personally don't care what the rest of the world believes. It doesn't change my life at all. I have to live with myself and I'm fine with the way I live. My kids have common sense and so do my grandkids.

If you remove religion from the picture, you don't rally the troops against or for communist aggression. You don't rally european colonialism and set off massive skirmishes that lead to war. Look at almost every war ever fought, and religion is either the cause or a source of morale buildup. Remove the religion and people stop acting on behalf of their version of the "greater good."

It's not you, how you practice, how you believe, just not about you at all. For all I know, you're just afraid of judgment and hell, and probably an agnostic deep down.
It's about the religion you belong to, where it's from, what's it's done, to the world and to other human being, directly and indirectly.. as a whole. Telling your children about god, as seen by your religion only isn't teaching them to nurture any common sense whatsoever. Common sense doesn't come from someone telling you how things are. I would never teach my children ONE religion. Teach them all religions and let them decide when they are old enough to formulate an opinion based on knowledge of life and religions in general. People truly do not see the dangers in prohibiting children decide things for themselves.
Be honest with yourself, be honest with your children. And no, I'm not speaking to you directly, I'm speaking to religious people with children in general.
