What was your business?

Whatever that was, find a way to volunteer through an organization of any type, using your skill. Research and make sure you are spending your time volunteering to the right charity. As you do so, the more "well to do people" that also volunteer in this organization will notice your work through this volunteering and will start asking for your services for pay, if you do a great job and do what you offer. They will tell their associates and friends and you are back in business soon enough. Play the system and you will be just fine - if you want to be.

Another easier but much slower way is to volunteer your skill to friends and family. Again when you are noticed for your value, you will get work again.

See how long it takes to drink a keg...

or how about kicking the freeloader wife to get a job? she can repay now for the easy years of watching soap operas and daily pigging out on doritos.

Im in the same boat. Was looking into a few things but then got busy again. But when I was looking around I figured out a system, it goes like this. It something very simple to do....

You buy a L cheapo pick up truck....

Then you retro fit it with plywood walls to make a box in the back so it can carry a lot of stuff. Then you put ads all over, bandit signs, signs on the truck, make biz cards, online classifieds etc etc.... then Once you do that you can offer services like:

- Junk removal
- snow plowing / removal
- Light moves
- house cleaning
- Landscaping
- House painting
- handyman
- portable carpet cleaning
- deliveries
- Arrand boy
- Grocery delivery

and the list goes on and on....I think on a busy day you could make 500 dollars easy. So if you only worked week days you're making 10k per month. Then if you got busy and you got a second truck going you might be able to expand from there. I've seen this done. The guy I know who did this is now making millions.

Something worth consider anyway.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. My business died off so I took on odd jobs and delivered pizzas. Delivering pizzas, I averaged about $40 profit per night after gas and before hourly. It's kind of humiliating to be an adult who had a respectable career and then delivering pizzas but it gets you out of the house and puts cash in your pocket and gas in your tank.

It took me a while but I did end up getting a regular job in my old line of work and was able to quit pizza delivery. Things will work out for you too but it might take a long time.

I never tried, that's why I hope he takes the challenge and reports to us daily...had a friend that found himself unemployed and I think he drank a keg of Bud Light in 30 days...that's like 5-6 beers/day I think...

What barter skills do you have and what do you really want to learn?

Photography and taking hikes . with a digital camera can upload for free. then you can find free photoshop / paintshop trials online and play with images . fun hobby can keep you busy for hours ! you can make money at it as well if you are good .

BTW, if you want to really pass blame, to the real reason USA is done, just look at the face up individual on the "American Currency Dime", a true Communist Infiltrator, that sold America out, with Churchill, and of course Stalin. Especially @ the Yalta Conference with the "Land Lease Deal" and where is our lent money (Land Lease Deal) to the Soviet Union, from that??? I want it back with interest and compound interest too!

There are a thousand different things you should NOT do while unemployed, they are nearly all mentioned somewhere in this thread.

You have an empty building? Grow plants. Some plants can be very profitable. There may be legal considerations.

If you hate yourself enough but also need steady money and don't mind being fucked by your employer, apply at a temp agency.

Do you have a truck? You could scrap metal, do odd jobs, if you are good at remodeling you could help home owners, etc.

Or put on a sombrero, carry a hammer, and stand outside a Home Depot...

a few years ago I sold my business and moved to a new area, i didnt have any friends here or many connections.

i volunteered at a childcare center, for their spaghetti fund raising dinner.
I worked hard, like they were paying me..one conversation led to another..which led to a plethora of productive, well paying work.

so, give a little, get a little.

Basically, if I wanted cash as a kid I had to earn it and started at the young age of 10 washing people's cars, doing yard work, cleaning, selling stuff we made, etc. Even though I resented the other kids who parents had the money to take them to the movies or do other stuff I learned how to provide for myself just by willing to put myself out there for hire. Years later the lesson learned was invaluable as there is a sense of being able to make it pretty much anywhere starting off with next to nothing.

One year while still struggling financially and living at below the poverty level we bought some those cheap large red Xmas stockings and filled them up with things like nuts in their shell, fruit (orange, tangerine), candy cane, etc. where we went around leaving them on the door knobs of people who we knew who were worse off then us. That was one of the most satisfying holidays ever.

Basically, since it's Christmas time think about what can be done that makes it easy to make some extra cash. Putting together Christmas stockings or baskets and selling them is another way to make some money. Low overhead and much appreciated by those who don't have the time to create home-made gifts.

Or sell coupons for your labor. Charge so much cash per hour. For example first 30 minutes free, second 30 minutes $15. Do some flyers up and put them under windshield wipers at some parking lots. Or put them in Xmas stocking (those tiny ones) and pass them out free with a small candy cane inside.

Not sure what you're willing to do but these are just some brain storming ideas that can be done as a family. This stuff sells well at Farmer Markets. Candied walnuts. Expresso Toffee. Divinity. Fudge. Can be sold in smaller mason jars or tins. Some folks just sell them in sandwich size zip lock baggies.

Good luck. This type of experience often is an opportunity that can bring families closer together which ends up being a positive time in ones life.

Sure fire homemade 4 minute fudge recipe.

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cube of butter
1 small can of sweetened condensed eagle brand milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Chopped walnuts optional

Place all ingredients in micro-safe bowl or 4 cup microwave safe measuring cup. Do not mix. Microwave for 4 minutes. Centers of chips are melted so stir until smooth. Add nuts. Spread out in 13" by 9" glass pan - cover with plastic wrap on top of fudge and refrigerate for 1 hour. Cut into small pieces and put into paper candy cups or container for storage.

Other salable items to make are candied walnuts, expresso toffee, divinity, etc.

150 grams of butter
1 tin (approx 395ml) Sweetened condensed milk
250 grams of chocolate melts (cooking chocolate)

Actually better yet!, infiltrate the "Hasadic/Russian/Orthodox/Religious" Jews and community. Act like one of them, and find out how they do the old "Entitlement/Welfare/Benefits" scam, that they've been pulling for the last 80+ years.

Grow a "beard", put a "Yamuka" (prayer cap) on, go to the local Temple, and strike up a conversation and take it slow, and slowly infiltrate the workings of all the "Scams/Frauds/Cons" they do with the "Entitlements/Welfare/Benefits", they (certain Jews) pull with the free Moneys!

And you can bet the farm, that "Uncle Scam/Uncle Sham with Uncle Boris" is involved with the scam's/frauds they pull!

There are lots of homeless people that don't know what a big Thanksgiving dinner or even what a warm bed feels like, so maybe find a couple and tell them about it...take pictures to help illustrate...
