I know that that is a flawed mentality (not to mention arrogant), because there are brilliant people whose internet writings are riddled with spelling mistakes, but it's just how my mind works. I can often overcome this bias after getting through a few sentences, if the writing is well articulated or conveyed properly, in spite of its grammatical errors. That being said, I'll look back on things I write online and catch these spelling mistakes. "Doh! You dummy!", I say to myself. "Better edit my post to change that one 'there' to 'their'." |

Ackkk!!! I read it as written and think wth... People should have consideration, decency, and respect. To know and understand what comes out of your mouth while speaking. "Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5248308 United States 11/29/2012 09:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | US public school system for elementary and secondary schools absolutely sucks. ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. I'm a professor at a university. I get freshmen coming to the university that are barely literate. Apparently the 'youth' have terrified elementary/secondary teachers into no longer demanding that the 'youth' really know anything. America is bow-under-the-water and the stern is going verticle in a Titanic sinking of the former Country into an ignorant, lazy, mouth-breathing sea of stupidity. It's about depth of a person, and priorities. I care much more about the persons information and feelings than I do about the spelling. Thank you for noticing that it is about the complainer and pointer only. I don't have time to point out anyones faults. I am way too busy dealing with what's inside of me. Love the way you think and just put it out there. I try very hard to give no energy to those who point out things in others. I am Just grateful that I am not that insecure and messed up on the VERY trivial. All my energy goes to you. I love your spirit. thankyou! |

When a poster claims to be a PhD in geology, physics, climatology etc., but can't get through a sentence without spelling a 4 or 5 letter word correctly, the weight of their words is seriously reduced. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 16973401 United States 11/29/2012 11:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Post something like the following with bad spelling and terrible grammar, readers will dismiss it as "crazy talk"....if they even give it any attention at all. But if it's written well, people just might be more inclined to at least read it to the end with a better appreciation for what it says. "I live a couple miles from an I95 interchange. Between me and the interchange is a large childrens' hospital with an adjacent Ronald McDonald's House facility. These two sites are very important in this region for what they are. The original grounds and buildings for the hospital was donated decades ago by one of the VERY elite families in this country. A large swath of that area underwent a MAJOR reconfiguration (roads, many acres of terrain) recently that included the interchange and the entire area between I95 and the hospital. During this time there was constant blasting and heavy machinery operation. On the surface of it there was nothing really unusual considering the job being done. When the work appeared complete the blasting could be heard and felt for about 6 months afterward. To me, that was more than a bit unusual since there was nothing above ground being worked on any more. The hospital, of course, has a helipad which one would expect to see med-evac choppers land on and depart from. For years the traffic was several choppers per week...at most. But during this construction period it became 5 or 6 every day...all kinds of 'copters at all times of day or night (nothing really large though many were clearly not medical). Unless children all over the area were suddenly in need of emergency evac, this traffic is unusual. After construction...still 5 or 6 per day...for about a year after. It continued for about 6 months after the weird blasting ended..........until about a month ago. First the weird blasting sorta had my interest. Then the helicopter traffic got me thinking and I suspected an underground facility of some type was either upgraded or newly built. The plans for all the above ground work are public but nothing is available about anything underground so if it is something below, it's "secret". Now, the nearly complete lack of helicopter traffic REALLY has me wondering. Looking back on the time period as a whole, I get the impression that there was a hurriedness to it all." |
