The point you seem to be missing.....Like myself many have lived in same location over a decade...we are aware and in touch with nature, we are aware of the "natural" seasonal degree changes...THIS is FAR beyond the Normal seasonal shift...its okay don't worry we know most of you just don't get it because you're not "in touch:)

The point is, you're wrong.

Odds are greater that you are just mistaking because you're looking for doom. Or....it could be you just never noticed pf your surroundings as closely as you are now.

Do yourself a favor. Take pictures. Take them today then take them again a year from today. If they're different THEN pipe in and start a thread.

Re: Sun Almost Rising In The SOUTH!
Lets get one thing straight.
The earth hasn't tilted...Like some have though or brought up.If that happened...you all would know about it.

What happens with the earth over a period of time, lays with it's eliptical orbit.
There are variations in it's eliptic orbit.
If your noticing any changes..this is with the variations in it's eliptic orbit..
It's not a huge variation..could be somewere between 6 to 8 percent.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29535560

There is no change because sun dials, Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid, Macchu Picchu still work fine and are spot on.

The change is coming from within. Not out there.

You think this news, if true, would be limited and found on GLP only?

SO, do you think that the current situation will never back to normal? I mean the Sun with less degrees from South like it was in almost 3 year ago?

Re: Sun Almost Rising In The SOUTH!
I have been talking about this for the past couple of years. I am not alone in my observations either. So the question is, why are so many of us noticing these anomalies if they don't exist?

I have a clear obstructed view of the western horizon. I have pulled up pictures of our sunsets on the Internet showing dates and the sun was setting in the wrong place based on the same time period years prior.

The moon....I have hot tub and sit in it all the time at night. The moon used to set with sliver on he right and I loved to watch it slip under the horizon , now the sliver is on bottom. This is undisputed, question is why has it changed?

That's simple true, as in the winter it rises and sets more south than normal (and for normal I mean more than + 15 degrees as it always does till 2007), in summer it happens the opposite.

So something has changed.

correctly you're saying the Sun fixes itself after a while?

So are Sun (or Earth) are constantly changing, moving, dancing around and positioning themselves in different spots and no one realizes this except GLPers?

You're a fucking moron.

Why do Sundials still work correctly?

I was just down at Coral Castle where Ed, the builder, made a sundial and it works PERFECTLY. Why is that? No, better question; how is that possible if the Sun (Earth?) moved?

So if you're right and the rest of us are wrong then...the winter solstice will be off therefore it will not 'work' with the accuracy it has for centuries at Stonehenge on the 21st, right?
Is that what you're saying?

Yes boys and girls, the Sun is on a slinky now.

I wonder if the owner and Mods get sick of these threads after a while. They must be having a good laugh though.

The sun is more southern in the winter months.

We know that, but its not the point because is more southern than as it should be in these days in winter time.

Folks read a bit the thread before posting please. Tnx.

The relative movement of Earth is not static.
If it were.. there would be no need to adjust calendars and calibrate clocks..

To say it is reveals lack of comprehension or ulterior motive.

What kind of compass are you using to make your determination? A physical magnetic compass or an electronic one on say, your iPhone? I've noticed that my iPhone compass is useless around power lines or electric motors.

Also, It's a fact that magnetic north is moving. I don't think it's moved enough to account for your observation of almost 15 degrees, but it may account for some of it.

Funny how you have been checking it out for years, but can't show a photo on the same date in different years showing a change. All you have to do is check the Katkam archives to see lots of sunset pics on the same date over many years. Guess what... no change.

Calendars are "adjusted" due to the year not being exactly 365 days, not because of erratic Earth motions. To say it's due to erratic Earth motions reveals lack of comprehension or ulterior motive.

Re: Sun Almost Rising In The SOUTH!
I just found this thread after noticing a glow in the south, nowhere near where the sun rises here at any time of the year. not using a compass, just my knowledge of where the sun rises. then I get here and read about the sundials and the picture archives that are proving sun is in same relative position.... so what was the glow in the south? I will look for the appropriate thread for that, but this is maybe what everyone in this thread saw too.... it was a glow that was only visible for 3 min or so, a bit east of south, but almost due south. later I confirmed the sun is coming from the east. the southern glow must be something else. and yeah the moon is doing trippy stuff too

No it is not.

Polaris is still exactly where it should be.
If the planet's tilt had changed, the axis would no longer point close to Polaris.
I polar-aligned my telescope by the Kochab-clock method only two nights ago.
(The K-C method relies on the North celestial Pole being two thirds of a degree from Polaris, in the same direction as the star 'Kochab')

If the Earth's axis was 'off' by even a very small angle, I would be able to see the result - Stars etc. would drift across my field of view, especially at high magnifications.
They weren't drifting, ergo, the earth's axis is just as it should be.

Re: Sun Almost Rising In The SOUTH!
Don't go confusing them with facts!!

The sun-tards are convinced the earth's axis wobbles all over the place, that the sun's rising and setting are never correct, way too far north in (northern) summer, and way too far south in winter.

But for some reason they never manage to get any direct evidence like photographs, or even reproducable observatiosn. All we ever get is "it never shone in my window before" or the like.

It's been going on for years here at GLP, even though every summer and winter solstice proves them wrong, and not one astronomer has ever reported anything out of place in the sky. They're either trolls, or complete imbeciles, as there's no other rational explanation for these recurrent threads....
