There's an oz of tobacco in a pack of smokes. You can get an oz of good weed for $14.50 in NYC? wow.

HELL NO!!! Grow your own and cost after fertilizer is about 10.00 per ounce. Several of us grow together and get about 5 lbs each per growing seasonbonghit

That must scare the hell out of the tax man

FYI...I do have my Medical Pot card....I always stay as legal as possible.....but whatever I still smoke

of course not.....
simply means I can smoke what little I hold in peace.....we prefer to call it "civil disobedience"

So soon the prices of legalized weed will be similar because of state taxes, federal taxes, local taxes. What about profit margin? Raise the price of buds.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4658130

yeah, it cracks me up that people are celebrating legal weed (like being a stoner is a great way to live your life)

making that shit legal will only go one way - taxes
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27667491

yea because taxes are so much worse then seizure, loss of freedom, criminal record, travel restrictions, legal fee's, etc. you stupid twat.

I roll my own, it's roughly $10.00 a carton. I'm sure they'll eventually find a way to start taxing that more too. But for now, it's the way to go. I was going to quit a couple of years ago, but when they started the crackdown, I decided to keep smoking out of spite. F*%K THEM!

I found it funny, when I was Christmas shopping for my daughter a billfold, I saw a ton of those old school cigarette cases. The ones with the lighter holder and change purse, haven't seen those in ages, with smoking being so taboo. They're everywhere now, I bought myself one. :)

Regardless of who are you trying to spite, you're mainly only spiting yourself - primarily your lungs, but other things also damaged by smoking (more quickly aged facial skin is one).

If you've got kids and you smoke in the house, you're spiting them too. Are you sure that's what you really wanted to do?

The best spite against the tax man is to not buy them so he can't get his tax money. If you just gotta have it, grown your own. It will actually be better for you because it won't have all those extra-addictive chemicals added by the tobacco companies.

LOL

I "learned" to smoke in nursing school after high school. Mostly everyone in my class did and the doctors did, too. Then I married a smoker. After 15 years of smoking, I quit.

They still allowed smoking on the airplanes, and I thought I would die working coast to coast flights with all the smoke I breathed in. I'd get to the hotel and coughed all night with pain in my lungs.

I was soooo thankful when two members of Congress stopped the madness and banned smoking on planes. First and last time I was ever grateful for liberals! lol

14.50$ ???
are you serious?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25701329

The U.S. federal government [central government] puts a huge tax on cigarettes [some other tobacco products like cigars, cigarillos, chew, dip, snus are taxed much less]. Individual state governments put an additional tax. There's a POS [point of sale] tax, and some municipalities like NYC have the right to add their own tax, and they do.

Where I live in Boston, name brand cigarettes can cost anywhere from around 6 dollars to 8-10 dollars a pack for the real foo-foo brands. But, you can but these things called 'Little Cigars' which are cigarettes wrapped in tobacco sheet product rather than paper, and are a little heavier than cigarettes, but have a filter and are roughly the same size as cigarettes, at around 2-2.50 a pack. You can also get tobacco products online from Indian reservations [tribal land] very cheaply, because they are semi-autonomous territory inside the United States. Roll your own is also very cheap.

There's also a big black market in cigarettes in NYC and elsewhere.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29269141

"Good weed" prices will skyrocket once the government gets their fingers in the game.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26645671

No it wont because there will always be street dealers undercutting their prices.

So weed prices will most liekly go down if it is legalized

Do some research and you'll fine most tobacco was "safe" till they started to do nuclear above ground testing.....seems some fallout hit the tobacco belt a few times....closely kept information....I had a link to a story about this at one time

In any event, you've gotta be a moron to smoke out of spite.

That was the point and it was more of a sarcastic statement at that.

I don't really hope the dude gets cancer. Just an expression to wake some of the smoking sheep up.

Up until the last 50 years or less, it wasn't nearly as bad for you as it is now!

But like the food and anything else its being used as weapons of mass destruction.

Wait til pot is completely legalized. It too will then be tampered with to kill off its users.

A moron to do something I enjoy before I die? Don't think so.

Nuclear fallout on the tobacco fields, but by some miracle avoided your fresh produce fields? Ridiculous

Do these sheep who live natural healthy lives think they're going to die peacefully in their sleep? LMAO

You're going to be right there with the rest of us, gasping for your last breath, choking on your vitamins and tofu that your intestines expel, and pissing and shitting yourself. Difference is...I won't be regretting not having a smoke, a beer, a plate of bacon, and chocolate cake. Live life!

A MORON TO SMOKE TO SPITE SOMEBODY! that's the third time I've told you that.

If you enjoy it do it. But smoking to spite somebody is stupid.

I enjoy beers, cake, Bacon. But I don't eat Bacon to spite the Jews! I eat Bacon cause I enjoy it.

I don't drink beers to spite anybody. I enjoy a beer now and then, so I drink them.

I agree you gotta be free to do as YOU wish.
Someone once told Mark Twain that smoking cigars would shorten his life.....as I recall his response was along the line of even if that is true...why live longer if your not happy doing it!

I roll my own too,we use the pre made filter cigarette tubes and the little machine cig maker and we even grow our own tobacco, it's legal to grow for personal use in every state and all of Europe too, amazingly people do not know that!
We have great cig's with zero additives !
I'm not sure if it is cool with GLP, I hope so, but here is a link to the guy we get our seeds from.

We grow our's in 5 gallon buckets on the balcony after the last frost, our plants were 7 feet tall this year and we got 2 crops, we are still smoking last years stuff! We got some leaves 3 feet long !

Re: 14.50 per pack for cigs in NYC
I smoke a pipe. I never inhale the smoke, the tobacco I use has never seen chemical additives or pesticides. I grow about half of the tobacco I use in my blends myself. Last I checked, it is legal for anyone to grow tobacco in the U.S. for their own use.

I used to smoke cigarettes. I had to quit them. They were killing me and I could notice the strain they where having on my body. Interestingly enough, there is little to no valid evidence that pipe smoking in the way I do (never inhale) is harmful. In fact, many pipe smokers like myself actually outlive non-smokers.

Now my grandmother smoked a pipe in much the way I do, and it did eventually kill her. They contributed her death as possibly being complicated by her smoking indoors. And my family buried her at the young age of 98 years. So I am reminded of the dangers of smoking. She could of had another 2-3 vibrant years....
