Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22733536 NIRVANA GOT RID OF ALL THE FUCKING HAIR METAL MOTHERFUCKERS, the only thing decent from the 1980s was fucking metallica/thrash bauhaus, the cure, and cheers 1990s were fuck loads better. MORE EMOTION, MORE HEART AND SOUL Nirvana is the only band from the 90's that made a big impact. I'll give you that one. Check out the 80's: Prince, U2, Billy Idol, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson..ok I liked the more new wave-alternative stuff, but there was lot's of rock too. Oh yeah, remember Cruising? Every big town had it's street. Saturday night everyone jumped in a friend's car and "Cruised" until the address of a party tore you away from the strip. Coke still tasted good, there was a 7-11 on every corner. Cruising was the only way to find out where the party was. And the music was great! Who can forget; Foreigner, ACDC, Ted Nugent, Queen, Van Halen, Metallica, Def Leppard, Rush, Guns N' Roses, The Eagles, The Clash, .38 Special... and the list goes on. Absolutely..stuff was so much different back then. We would bounce around from spot to spot. On occasion, get into fights where only fists were involved. Not wannabe gangsters. Then laugh about it afterward, smoke a bowl, drink a beer and then grab the keg and take off when the cops came. Oh good list! And if you wanted to talk to people you had to call them, or actually meet up with them. Going to the movies even seemed better. I don't know why, but maybe because now everything comes out on DVD/On Demand so quickly, that we don't want to spend $40 when we can see it a few months later for $3.99. Prices were way cheaper too. A movie ticket was $3 during the day and popcorn and drink was $4. Alright, I've aged myself quite succinctly now. |

It was a lot of fun. I used to fly all over the country, my friend would get me tickets as he had a lot of miles, and i would fly under his name. They never even asked for any ID back then. And it just seemed the girls were so much prettier back then, than the young girls today. 19-23 year olds today, they will never know all the freedom we had back then, that we took for granted. It's fucking depressing what it changed in to. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19175422 You must be too young to have any idea what the 1980's were like. They were really great, if I do say so myself. The best music, so much originality. People were way happier, and more free. You could buy a ticket to a concert for $20, no one checked your purse or pockets at the entrance, you could smoke everywhere(even though I don't smoke now), drinks were $2, gas was .95, live bands played at all the local bars, and everyone danced all night. I could go on and on. I feel sorry for my own kids, but it's just not the same and I can't allow them as much freedom as I was allowed.....to dangerous. ^^^^^^THIS..I was in my 20's all during the 80's...my kids have grown up on 80's music and they are fans! Live and let live.......really |

Even though the movies and theaters are much more technologically advanced than back then, most of us, where I grew up in Philly, only had 19 inch TVs and VCRs. So going to the movies was more like an event! |

The Louis Farrakhan/Malcolm X shit started hitting the youth. I was personally accosted/harassed by a black kid, and was called "the white devil" because I refused to date him. I don't consider myself a racist person, but when confronted with racism which is what it was because he explained to me how "their" goal was to breed out the "white devil". That was 20 years ago...look where we are now, we have one of "those" blacks holding the highest office on earth. |
