No real good solution to this mess, guns are bad, but so is a police state. Pick your poison.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9591002

"guns are bad"

One of the single most ignorant statements on GLP, and there are a LOT to choose from.

If it weren't for guns, you would never have had one MINUTE of freedom.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29998220

Please explain how, in your warped little mind, the simple statement "guns are bad" is one of the single most ignorant statements ever made on GLP.

Surely you can do better than the the borderline Orwellian guns = freedom contention used in that last sentence of yours.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9591002

Guns DO equal freedom

Ask ANY of the founders.

Without men with guns, you never would have had even ONE MINUTE of freedom. you would be nothing more than a serf... IF you were even ALLOWED to exist at all.

Sad, but you CAN'T ask any of the uncountable MILLIONS who died all over the world, as a direct result of not being able to defend themselves from power mad animals with guns.

P.S - My "warped little mind" has an IQ that has been tested 3 times, at 150 plus.

I spent 10 years as a major market radio talk show host, and always pulled in excellent numbers. Not too shabby for a "warped little mind".

Eh?

what is poetic is the fact china owns you right now.

Well, they sure don't own ME, so you must have somehow gotten me confused with the libtard masses here.

I live in a paid for 4 bedroom, 3 bath home, with two high-end paid for vehicles, and have no outstanding debts. And I only buy American.

So how, exactly, does China own me?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29998220

i say it slowly for you, you live within the borders of a country who owes China more than you and your grandkids will ever be able to pay off.

And that house, put together by machinery manufactured mostly in china. USA today is most certainly not the USA of a few decades ago. Somewhere along the line you guys forgot what made your country the greatest.

I've tried and tried, and looked and looked... And I STILL can't find anyone with such a putrid mix of sheer idiocy, and pure obnoxiousness, as the Oztards on this forum.

Hey, it's a hot topic. What did you expect?

But at least keep in mind that the derailment happened because of your "countrymen".

They always seem to have a sincere dedication to doing just, that all over this forum.

Libtardism cannot exist in the light, and therefore must resort to other tactics.

Bad attention, is better than NO attention, in their "minds".

I agree w/poster that said it's better than everyone be armed. I also believe children should learn from a young age that guns are tools not toys.

It's an ethical issue. Do you subject all your citizens to these scenarios and take away their protection to save "x" children/adults a year or risk WORSE happening if all were to be disarmed, because everyone knows, once that happens, what is happening overseas will happen here.

So really more people will be harmed in the end by disarming us. It is a tragedy, I can't imagine being one of the parents that was NOT allowed to go see my child...I'd flip out...and my heart goes out to all of the families, it sincerely does, BUT don't put the rest of us in the same boat, unable to protect ourselves in vengeance or misplaced grief.

Guns DO NOT kill people, PEOPLE kill people. I have not yet seen a gun develop arms and legs and go shoot someone.

You are NOT going to rid society of the crazies, the druggies, the criminals, and if you look at numbers killed, even in these types of tragedies, and look at numbers killed year round by the "criminals" I think you'll be able to better balance your views on the whole matter.

The criminals/gangs kill MORE year round than ALL of these tragedies put together...so is one person more valuable than another just because they weren't all killed at once?

I don't think so, we are all worthy of living, and all worthy of protecting ourselves. Without guns, we are ALL defenseless, the criminals WILL still have them and WE will be at their mercy.

What is for the greater good? It is an ethical question. There are no "right" answers. But my gut instinct is, once our ability to protect ourselves is gone, we're at the mercy of the real criminals AND the crazies, among others.

Most gun owners are responsible. I say, throw the book at any gun owner that ISN'T responsible, i.e., kids get a hold of their guns, kill someone, they are liable...prison time, make it HARSH, but DO NOT disarm the entire population.

What do we say to the families that lost their children to war? What do we say to the families that lost a loved one to any other type of criminal? There is nothing that can heal those wounds, but disarming the public isn't the answer, if that happens, there will be MORE deaths, not less.

The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs." -- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President.
"A majority of the people of the United States have lived all of their lives under emergency rule.
