The events in Revelations have already happened
For all of us in the conspiracy community, this book in the Bible has been a hot topic, with its apocalyptic imagery about the end times.

I've puzzled about the various interpretations, trying to see who or what fits the descriptions of the anti-christ, the beast, the harlot, the cities etc.

The recent discussions about the RFID chip led me to research some more, and in the Catholic Encyclopedia I found the most logical explanation yet, I know a lot of you firmly believe her to be the harlot, or the beast, or Babylon, but if you are truly searching for the truth in these times of mass confusion, consider the interpretation the church gives with an open-minded rational attitude, without automatically casting the church into the role of the villain.

Re: The events in Revelations have already happened
"The beast from the sea that had received plenitude of power from the dragon, or Satan, is the Roman Empire, or rather, Caesar, its supreme representative. The token of the beast with which its servants are marked is the image of the emperor on the coins of the realm. This seems to be the obvious meaning of the passage, that all business transactions, all buying and selling were impossible to them that had not the mark of the beast (Apocalypse 13:17). Against this interpretation it is objected that the Jews at the time of Christ had no scruple in handling money on which the image of Caesar was stamped (Matthew 22:15-22). But it should be borne in mind that the horror of the Jews for the imperial images was principally due to the policy of Caligula. He confiscated several of their synagogues, changing them into heathen temples by placing his statue in them. He even sought to erect an image of himself in the Temple of Jerusalem (Josephus, Ant., XVIII, viii, 2)."

BOOOOO!
1 But these took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt,
42 That they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land.
43 And they entered into Euphrates by the narrow places of the river.
44 For the most High then shewed signs for them, and held still the flood, till they were passed over.
45 For through that country there was a great way to go, namely, of a year and a half: and the same region is called Arsareth.
46 Then dwelt they there until the latter time; and now when they shall begin to come,

"The seven heads of the beast are seven emperors. Five of them the Seer says are fallen. They are Augustus Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. The year of Nero's death is A.D. 68. The Seer goes on to say "One is", namely Vespasian, A.D. 70-79. He is the sixth emperor. The seventh, we are told by the Seer, "is not yet come. But when he comes his reign will be short". Titus is meant, who reigned but two years (79-81). The eighth emperor is Domitian (81-96). Of him the Seer has something very peculiar to say. He is identified with the beast. He is described as the one that "was and is not and shall come up out of the bottomless pit" (17:8). In verse 11 it is added: "And the beast which was and is not: the same also is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into destruction"."

"All this sounds like oracular language. But the clue to its solution is furnished by a popular belief largely spread at the time. The death of Nero had been witnessed by few. Chiefly in the East a notion had taken hold of the mind of the people that Nero was still alive. Gentiles, Jews, and Christians were under the illusion that he was hiding himself, and as was commonly thought, he had gone over to the Parthians, the most troublesome foes of the empire. From there they expected him to return at the head of a mighty army to avenge himself on his enemies. The existence of this fanciful belief is a well-attested historic fact. Tacitus speaks of it: "Achaia atque Asia falso exterrit velut Nero adventaret, vario super ejus exitu rumore eoque pluribus vivere eum fingentibus credentibusque" (Hist., II, 8). So also Dio Chrysostomus: kai nyn (about A.D. 100) eti pantes epithymousi zen oi de pleistoi kai oiontai (Orat., 21, 10; cf. Suetonius, "Vit. Caes."; s.v. NERO and the SIBYLINE ORACLES). Thus the contemporaries of the Seer believed Nero to be alive and expected his return. The Seer either shared their belief or utilized it for his own purpose."

if i were to speculate, i'd say the 6th trumpet would bring the Lifting of the veil, the Apocalypse in fact, the revelation of one bringing the revelation of many. The sixth angel is the angel of the sixth church. The sixth church is the sixth chakra, the third eye, hence the veil being lifted.

Exactly.

"It is an article of faith that Christ will return at the end of time to judge the living and the dead. But the time of His second advent is unknown. "But of that day and hour no one knoweth, no, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone" (Matthew 24:36). It would appear, and is so held by many that the Christians of the Apostolic age expected that Christ would return during their own lifetime or generation."

hmm About the hour that no one knows.. we have to be sure if it applies. And nevertheless the very Bible depicts the signs when the time is near, and we have seen some of these signs..

No one knows the exact time, but maybe the hints are around just waiting to be catched!

Btw, if we take Jesus Christ as a Sun God, the facts about 2012 also adds up, being the end of the cycle and considering the relations of our sun with other important stars of the galaxy!

I believe the second coming should be something in many layers, and it would affect all mankind!

not nearly sneaky enough,
though with so much attention to a date like today's, maybe a revolution of belief for a new world could begin...

The often worried about "Abomination of desolation" occurred in 70 A.D. Fit than into the Roman Emperor's. The People of the Prince that shall come of Daniel Nine pertains to the Romans and their Prince.

By the end of that destruction of the Temple and the destruction of Jerusalem, the population of Jews in Jerusalem and Judah were vastly reduced, to the point the region, but especially the Temple and Jerusalem was without any Jews, completely desolate, hence a Desolation.

70 A.D. was the 69 1/2th Week of Daniel. The full end of that Daniel 70 weeks would have had fulfillment at 73 1/2 A.D.

In Daniel, the Messiah is seen destroying the Temple and Jerusalem. Jesus warned the Chief Priests and the Pharisee many times Woe, Woe, Woe, you Generation of Vipers. In the Olivett Discourse, Jesus was speaking directly to those Disciples and Apostles when He said, ".. and when you shall hear of the abomination of desolation... " He was telling those very disciples what they themselves were supposed to do and what they were going to be going through, not some vastly time distance down the road nearly 2,000 years later. And He brought it to pass as He had prophesied -- He brought it to pass behind the scenes after His ascension. He was seen coming in power and glory within that time frame. Those that deny that Jesus the Christ was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven, fall into the great delusion of looking for some later date from that Olivett Discourse's instruction and make the mistake that it was for some vastly distant in time generation of people rather than the same exact generation that Jesus had grown up with.

Evangelicals in particular have apparently warped their understanding about many things especially pertaining to the Book of Daniel and the Book of the Revelation because they have not handled the Gospels and Paul's and Peter's and John's Epistles cleanly. The virus of the Roman Catholic Dominicans had infected the Evangelicals of the Protestants.

Why is there no continuing church of any of the Seven Churches in Asia Minor spoken of in the Book of the Revelation. Where did they disappear too?

Babylon, the City, was destroyed long ago, and is still mainly a heap, not something that is from our time frame, 'yet to come'.

There are yet things to come to pass even forward from this time frame of this year 2012 A.D.

As to the Gathering Together... pay very close attention to the grammar and the nouns and pronouns of Paul's Epistles on this, and the time in which he was writing.. that was written even before the 70 A.D. event of the Abomination of Desolation of the Temple and of Jerusalem.. and before the 73.5 A.D. end of Daniel's 70 Weeks.

Re-read the Sermon on the Mount and other instruction by Jesus to His disciples, followers, and students.

No where in those saying is there ever a command by Jesus for His followers to enter the making and writing of the Laws of Man to legislate by law the levy of Taxation by the power of the Sword of Steel to force everyone to obey the Sermon on the Mount. No, instead He instructs His followers to keep those sayings and do those things themselves with their own hands, not that extorted by Taxation from any carnal king or ruler.

Do not confuse the Kingdom of God that is within you (who are born again of God's Spirit) with the Kingdom of Heaven.

scripture tells us the "ab of des" will be set up in the last days because if u know chapter24 it tells us all that is written in that chapter the same generation will see all these things occur in chapter24,verse34 = 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

I will, but have to go now, I'm familiar with your gnostic interpretation, and its nice to contemplate, in a spiritual sense, but too fairy-tale like to take seriously as the truth.

Thanks for airing it though

Thanks! Sorry for inserting it too abruptly! I do believe it adds up though tounge

hmm About the hour that no one knows.. we have to be sure if it applies.

Well, one can only hope. tounge

I just can't see it (the second coming) coinciding neatly with predictions...
not nearly sneaky enough,
though with so much attention to a date like today's, maybe a revolution of belief for a new world could begin...

not only a new world will begin, but also a new heaven Revelation chapter21,verse1 = All Things Made New

21 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea

The second coming can only happen when the season is right, season means when other prophecies have happened first.
Our Lord is a mathamatical genius,as we will see in our life time or as the bible says "This generation"

Re: The events in Revelations have already happened

I agree that most of Revelation has already taken place, the same with Matthew 24, but I disagree with preterism. The Roman Catholic church IS anti-Christ, the great whore, etc. The Jesuits invented the two false interpretations: Futurism and Preterism during the Reformation. The Reformers were convincing people that the Harlot was the church of Rome and people were being converted in droves. Two Jesuit priests came up with these "interpretations" to fool the masses and once again take the heat off the Whore church. Futurism is more popular today, but Preterism was more popular in the 1900's.
The true, Biblical, historical and accurate interpretation of Revelation is called HISTORICISM or historicalism. It is the "interpretation" that the early church fathers ascribed to, as well as the Reformers. Matthew Henry is one famous proponent. I used to be a hardcore futurist until God opened my eyes to the truth of historicism.
I agree that preterism makes more sense than futurism however, when you see wording such as "must shortly come to pass" and "this generation", but preterism fails when they teach that Christ has already returned and that all of The Bible has been fulfilled.

no man knows when the end is coming.for there is no date given for it

 Quoting: K.Kool

It is one of the errors of the gnostic path, to internalize the spiritual to the exclusion of the external reality.
It is what makes the vision of a general judgement so awesome to contemplate -

"The judgment will embrace all works, good or bad, forgiven as well as unforgiven sins, every idle word (Matthew 12:36), every secret thought (1 Corinthians 4:5)."

"That this judgment is ascribed to Christ, not only as God, but also as Man, is expressly declared in Scripture; for although the power of judging is common to all the Persons of the Trinity, yet it is specially attributed to the Son, because to Him also in a special manner is ascribed wisdom. But that as Man He will judge the world is confirmed by Christ Himself (John 5:26-27). At the Second Coming Christ will appear in the heavens, seated on a cloud and surrounded by the angelic hosts (Matthew 16:27; 24:30; 25:31)."

"The procedure of the judgment is described in Matthew 25:31-46, and in the Apocalypse 20:12. Commentators see in those passages allegorical descriptions intended to convey in a vivid manner the fact that in the last judgment the conduct and deserts of each individual will be made plain not only to his own conscience but to the knowledge of the assembled world. It is probable that no words will be spoken in the judgment, but that in one instant, through a Divine illumination, each creature will thoroughly understand his own moral condition and that of every fellow creature (Romans 2:15). Many believe, however, that the words of the sentence: "Come, ye blessed", etc. and "Depart from me", etc. will be really addressed by Christ to the multitude of the saved and the lost."

Then, we will finally reach our destiny, the fulfillment of our collective and individual potentials :)

"With the fulfilment of the sentence pronounced in the last judgment the relations and the dealings of the Creator with the creature find their culmination, are explained and justified. The Divine purpose being accomplished, the human race will, as a consequence, attain its final destiny. The reign of Christ over mankind will be the sequel of the General Judgment."
