I live in San Diego. I saw it on the 22nd. Looks like a halo, most beautiful thing i've ever seen.
I wont even lie, at first i thought it was like a huge UFO or something lol the moon was right above me so it looked like it was about to abduct us or something. But obviously after a couple seconds common sense kicked in and I figured it was a cloud or something.

I hear it happens whenever it gets really cold. It's suppose to be 37 degrees here this thursday, which for san diegans is freezing. hopefully I'll see it again, and I'll take a picture.

If it happens tomorrow, ill make sure to get a picture with my DSLR. But we may get rain tomorrow in the bay area.

Interesting. Ya, it's much bigger than it normally is.

Caused by reflection on ice particles in the upper atmosphere, and generally moon rings are said to warn of approaching storms.

UK, USA, Portugal... And others coutry I forgot are seeing this phenomen since 2 or 3 nights.

I went outside just after 1230am and was also taken aback by the moon which had a reddish halo around it while a thin cloud floated over it. Once the cloud moved the halo disappeared, but it was still a gorgeous moon and clear starry sky out here in the NE Bay Area.

did any one see that "star" just no moving around close to the moon. satellites dont orbit like that.
