Christian Slater's new movie makes a whopping $264 at the U.S box office this year
[link to www.dailymail.co.uk]

He once starred in films alongside stellar names such as Brad Pitt, Sean Connery and Tom Cruise.

But now, Christian Slater has reached possibly his lowest ever ebb with his latest movie offering.

The fading movie star, 43, suffered supreme embarrassment when his new indie horror flick, Playback, only managed to gross $264 at the U.S box office this year.

The average cost of a cinema ticket for 2012 in America was $7.94, which means that approximately 33 people viewed Payback.

Re: Christian Slater's new movie makes a whopping $264 at the U.S box office this year
That shows a distribution problem, rather than an innate quality one. It might be a decent movie even. (It is horror and lets face it, that generally doesn't sing of high quality.)

Just having Slater involved should get their money back. Someone failed at that part of things. They can probably still make their bank bake however, in other ways.

*If this wasn't part of a strategy. Why fight to have a movie in the theaters if it's designed for direct to video? But by doing it this way we are now talking about it... Even though none of us would have heard of it otherwise.

I like him...he's a good Guy.

They know how to market, and of course they had no intention.

I think his daddy is Jack Nicholson,
even though he does claim to be...
way too many similarities.

lol it doesn't mean only 33 pepole viewed it.

that is supposed to mean after many ticket sales the movie broke even in its budget( usually in the millions) and made that much..

we still have to wait for dvd sales and netflicks sales.

but yea the point is well made, that movie sucks, or/and he isn't a big enough movie star to reel in people to watch.

no the big studio starts up a tiny b-movie offshoot outfit to produce crap like this, pretends it cost 7.5m to make (more likely cost 75k) and declares it as a loss against the liability of it's other profitable operations. the daily mail is actually fucking with the script because more people will watch it now because of this and make their scam less profitable. it gets more interesting when you look at the deals the studios make in foreign territories. some 'blockbuster' movies end up 'losing' millions in box office before their taxes are due back to uncle sam.
