"take the time" to "line the cars up".

You need to get out more.

The subway cars are already standardized. The engineer just pulls up to the designated line and stops there. The doors line up with the openings in the railings. And the railing openings can be extra wide to accommodate any X-factor. Just like disney land. Totally doable.

But it is NYC. Pure retarded evil.

These items made of metal are clearly deadly. They are too fast and too heavy for the citizens to use and be around. We must bring an end to these. Just because they are useful doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Call your representatives and have them act today!

Re: 2nd New Yorker in 2 Weeks Killed After Being Pushed In Front Of Subway
Sorry to hear about this, it's sad. I seem to remember one or two stations having gate rails along the edge with openings for the subway doors to line up, could have been Long Island Railroad, though, when I was a kid. I always wondered why they were not at every station.

I suppose there would be problems/injuries that could occur from that too, though.

I'm sure Bloomberg is already thinking about some ridiculous "solution" to the issue by restricting liberties for NYC-dwellers. I lost most respect for him as a politician after I read he was thinking of trying to institute a policy in steak restaurants where people could only order a small piece of meat, and there would be workers in the restaurant whose sole job was to watch you chew your steak to make sure it was chewed enough times so you would not choke. That, and instituting mandatory goggles in sushi restaurants so that patrons would not "accidentally" poke out another person's eye with their chopsticks while eating. It could have been a joke, but I read it in several places along with ideas for a soda ban, so I'd tend to think it might have some basis in reality.

I was always a fellow pillar-holder or wall leaner in the subways. I only ventured out to look down the tunnels if nobody was around. You really don't have to do that, anyway. You can usually feel the air being stirred and a slight breeze before the train comes, as it's heading down the tunnel toward the station.

Prayers to the family of the victim, and I hope whoever did this gets some inpatient lifelong treatment, along with lockdown.

I can not believe this angle has not been discussed yet:

(Has anyone read the article referenced in the original post?)

The woman was described as heavy-set, about 5'5", wearing a heavy winter coat. And nobody was able to catch her?

Was she a world-class sprinter who just happened to be fat with short legs, wearing bulky clothing?

How did nobody who witnessed her push the man grab her? I find it hard to believe that not a single person went to grab her, or chase her, or kick her legs from behind to trip her, or tackle her, or yell ahead to other people, "STOP THAT WOMAN! SHE JUST PUSHED A MAN TO HIS DEATH! HELP! GRAB HER! IM COMING TO DETAIN HER!"

Seriously, are people, men especially, that impotent today? I guess this is the city where dozens of onlookers & neighbors heard her cries for help as she was stabbed to death on a NYC street. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

How did she get away? I would have definitely chased her down. An overweight, short, middle aged woman is definitely not outrunning the average person.

I would have form-tackled her, pulled her jacket over her head, and twisted her arm behind her back with one hand, while calling (ugh...I know...) the authorities.

Especially since something similar JUST happened!

This makes no sense.

Also, the fact that she got away, shows that she *knew* what she had just done was wrong.

A truly insane person might not have ran away...maybe yes, maybe no.

I think the MKULTRA angle is definitely something to consider. I wonder if the woman had a "handler" nearby. How did she just "poof" disappear? Was there an unmarked car sitting just outside, at the entrance/exit to the subway, which she apparently just bounded up the steps to vanish into the night?

We need to ban the subway,..... or better yet come to the realization than man carries an inheritantly evil side and people will continue to do this. We need to have a complete overhaul of our ever increasingly immoral society and its perversions. We have forgotten what it means to live with grace and integrity or actually we've never reached that understanding. We are headed into bad times and need something momentous to stop it! I am coming to the conclusion we are just one giant science experiment gone bad
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan

Those are great. The MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) is always crying poverty and they raise the fare every couple of years. I think it's still a bargain but people are always complaining about the raises. It would cost a fortune to do the gates but it's definitely needed.

Actually many people fall off but it's only the ones where people are shoved off that makes the news. A few weeks ago I read that it's a few hundred a year (a alot of drunk people), with approx. 50 people dying.

Hopefully they'll get her.

I take the subway at least 4x a week so I get out plenty. I was envisioning a rail along the platform with openings for people to go in and out of the train as poster said "railing".

Are you proposing that the railings don't have any kind of gate? Could you imagine what would happen especially during rush hour? Even if there was a neat way to line it up if you live in NYC you know that people will not patiently line up to let passengers off of the train and then wait to get on in an orderly manner..fahget about it!

It's simple,,,,DON'T STAND NEAR THE EDGE OF THE PLATFORM! Stand back by the stairs, the wall, or sit on a bench...you have a much better chance because if someone wanted to get you on the tracks they would have to drag you there...not just wait for the train and give you a little shove.

They do have that in many places in the NYC platforms. Actually, after the poor man died about a month ago, the one that was standing there seeing the train come towards him, people were saying there was a spot like that right where he was standing (dug out under the platform) but he was so dazed that he probably didn't realize it. They also have the dug out spots in the wall. I've never paid much attention to them but I know I've seen them.

I have seen, in person, and on videos of short, fat, middle aged women attempting to run. A great example would be videos of morans running through walmart and kmart trying to get black friday "deals." Have you ever seen a short, fat, middle aged woman try to run? It is more like a waddle. The legs don't go forward and backward like an athlete's legs do when the athlete is running. Instead, the legs sort of get "thrown" in an outward arc, due to the belly and atrophied muscles.

I find it really hard to believe that a couple men gave chase, but "dang it, we just couldn't catch her." Perhaps the man who "gave chase" was actually the handler?

There is no way. Absolutely no way a 5'5", heavy-set, middle aged woman who is wearing bulky, outdoor winter clothing is going to outrun the average person. How?

In the first case, the homeless man was talking to himself. Then him and the victim got into an argument and he pushed the guy onto the tracks.

Just wanted to point that out, in both cases the perps were supposedly talking to themselves.

OK, apologies. Apparently, the suspect is not middle-aged. She is in her 20s.

But, she is described as "heavy-set" wearing a heavy ski jacket.

Watch the video and at the very beginning, you can see the suspected woman running away.

Women are slower than men, on average.

Short people have shorter legs, and therefore usually run more slowly (5'5" is short compared to the average American, and I suppose 5'5" would be average height for a woman.)

Overweight people are not in cardiovascular shape, except for the ultra-rare exception (Roy Nelson, Heavyweight MMA fighter is one example...but the man is a professional athlete and is absolutely unique in his bodily appearance yet has excellent cardiovascular endurance...he also trains professionally and has his entire life.)

Wearing the heavy clothing would slow her down, restrict full range-of-motion, and cause increased wind resistance.

She would have been out of breath after just bounding up the stairs to exit the subway. Why does the video not show anyone giving chase?
