Our sunspot now showing moderate growth. Background X-ray levels are still in the C range indicating high levels of activity. Should flare in the near future.

Re: Not one but two HUGE SUNSPOTS
Hey bro..

You could learn a lot from TS..
Might come a time when we all need her expertise
and insight.

Just sayin....

The sun is a puzzle..
Knowing which pieces fit in which holes is a boon.
 Quoting: Waterbug

Yes looking back I agree it was rather stupid of me to label any reading from the sun insignificant or irrelevant. All big changes start on small scales, so I see where TS is coming from and her point is valid.

Very refreshing to talk with someone who is not afraid
to admit a mistake.

A man.

We could use a lot more like you around here..

Good job..

Im thinking if the 2 merge we could have a D.G.B spot which would kick off a lot of powerful flares.

Has anything happened yet? Seems to have gone rather quiet. The Xray ratio seems to creep down in the lower C levels.

My best guess here: 2-3 days for full geoeffectiveness, but I might be wrong.

They are Earth facing now. Technically they are not squarely Earth facing but any sunspot that is visible from Earth has the potential to be geoeffective if it erupts. In other words, if we can detect it on the X-ray flux on GOES, it is geoeffective.

I think we already got into one argument about this subject earlier in the thread lol. Yes, currently geo-effective. I did mean squarely Earth facing though as these have been geo-effective since nearly the discovery of the spot.
